I was wondering how long it would take before Hitler's name came up.

All Heil means is "victory" in German. Sieg means "hail." The term and the salute originates from the Romans, eapecially Caesar.

Lets not forget that Hitler killed 6 Million innocent men, women and children in death factories simply because they were Jewish or handicapped or Homosexual or politically dangerous. To put it in perspective there are only 15 Million Jews in the world. Also sad is the German People let him do it. It is to this day the most horrendous act committed against man in my humble opinion. I will never forget. The subject should not be taken lightly.

Maybe the worst part of the Holocaust is the Allies knew about the death camps and could have bombed the railroads supplying them, but did not.

When lists are made of the most evil person ever, Hitler is always a slam dunk > Rankopedia: Most Evil Person Ever

    Why?

He may/may not have killed the most people, but did most of it in only six years - others had decades. The industrial age made it possible for this genocide to happen, not to mention the war he started killed roughly 50 million. Nobody wants to think about what would have happened if his regime won the most devastating war ever... (nobody wants to think there will be a more devastating war than WWII  )

There were very cruel people before him such as Nero, but again the technology put it on a scale like no other.

Let's not forget the Nazis were recorded on film and photographed to imprint it on our minds so it can still seem like yesterday - not a foggy event centuries ago from some dusty book.

But the reason people fixate on Hitler is he was so passionately evil. He unashamedly embraced the worst traits with pride, racism, arrogance, brutality. He died with absolutely no regrets of all he did. Stalin was also very cruel, but pretty boring - Hitler was the embodiment of hate.

Just try to tell that to Topf und Sohne A.G.

They made the crematoria installed and used at Aushwitz.

While I agree the holocaust shouldn't be forgotten... anyone that believes that this teapot should be removed from the marketplace because it kinda-sorta resembles the german dictator if viewed a certain way is a ubber sensitive moron.

A bit of a side note... as an auctioneer years ago, I sold lots of WWII memorabilia, including items that some would find distasteful... I don't personally own any axis stuff - but I don't think folks are bad if they do.

This teapot is a real stretch.

All valid points, but I think Eddie Izzard got it right.

The main reason Hitler is so famous and famously hated is not because he killed so many people, but because he killed so many people outside of his own country. The whole sketch above is pretty hilarious, but the key starts around 1:40-ish

The lesson for today is advertising works. (First Billboard I've ever seen for a tea kettle). The advanced lesson is viral advertising works even better. I have an easy time imagining someone getting a urge to by the kettle due to the intense focus on a tea kettle, not for any nefarious reason.

However, be assured that if the item had an indirect resemblance to the many Virgin Mary outlines that have been spotted over the years, then it would have been a far hotter seller.
