We usually don't have much of a Spring. It seems to go from winter right into summer, except this year. It's been cool and wet all spring and other than drowning from 2X normal rainfall, it's been great . . . until this week. Yesterday the temp hit 96° and the humidity made it feel like 115°. Today, we're back to tornadoes again and then the head dome moves in for the summer this week.

You were lucky. I was in Chicago in June a few years ago. The people from Houston were complaining, they were expecting cooler, less humid weather than they had at home. Well, they didn't get it!

THere are days when I suspect that that is the case.

Yup. I did most of my "growing up years" in Iowa. It got hotter there than down here in the summer. Thankfully, though, it didn't stay hot for as long.

I struggled with glare on the 11.6" display for months. I think I've fixed it.

I tried a couple anti-glare screen protectors. One did nothing. The second one helped quite a bit with glare, but made it so blurry and low contrast that I ripped it off the screen while driving while we were on our May vacation trip.

It seemed that the glare happened when the sun was behind, low, and a little off to the side -- in other words, coming through the rear side windows. I got a pair of small window shades in June for about $9. So far, so good. I have not had one bit of glare. They don't hurt visibility at all. But I'll need to wait a while to be sure. I may have simply not yet had the sun at the right angle.

I agree. It’s the sun coming in from the rear passenger side window that gives the most glare.

I tinted the windows for that reason;).

15% does the job nicely (y).

15% is too dark for my liking and you don’t have long winters like we do. You don’t want limo tint when it’s raining and pitch dark outside (or it hasn’t snowed yet so you don’t have the benefit of snow reflecting the street lights to brighten the roads)

    Limo tint is 5%;).

It’s fine in the back, as the front windshield is at 70% and sides are at 50%:).

What are you looking at in the evening that can’t be seen even at 15%?

Blind spot monitoring goes along way if there are concerns (y).

15% is 85% less than my comfort level lol. I don't night drive much, and my neck doesn't crank around as easily anymore. Right rear corner in particular I find it hard to be confident of what is or isn't there, doing lane changes.

Don’t forget tempered glass does not allow 100% viewing;).

So you’re already a fraction of perfect viewing .

But the back windows, how much you using them anyway:whistle:?

The car stays noticeably cooler with it present:).

    Excellent trade off (y).

    Fiiiine lol.

For me, my comfort limit is 30%.

Well. Looking out the rear window for one and not being one of those people that just stare at the backup camera screen.

I don’t want to rely on BSM. When you’re driving multiple cars with different equipment, you gotta drive to the spec of the lower spec car.

The Prime is by far the lowest tech in our current fleet;).

Driving the RX450h reminds me of what is out there:).

The tint doesn’t hinder you once you put it on and are used to it(y).

    Yeah yeah :p

I chose the Prime over the ESh mostly cause I didn’t want to spend the extra cash (I can pay off the Prime nearly 2x as fast as some people here have suggested with regards to finances and car purchases). But as we’ve discussed before, I will try and find savings for a Lexus at some point in my life (and with a large downpayment... not $0 down and 60+ months)

    Save away :).

Having one in the fleet is worth it for trips;).

We’ll have the RX450h paid off sooner rather than later and we put some down to make the financial equation work per my CFO(y).

My strategy: buy cars when you have the dough.

Even zero percent doesn't interest me: you're still going in the hole.

    That’s one strategy ;).

Another one is keep the car for as long as feasible, then upgrade :).

Not everyone has cash on hand (we are an example of that) but can afford low interest payments for short periods of time(y).

We do too but are being very aggressive in ensuring Wells Fargo doesn’t line their pockets at our expense ;).

    Same with car payments:).

Controlled debt isn’t a bad thing as long as you look at the big equation (y).

Yup. Aggressive on the mortgage for sure. Unsure about the car payments (since interest earned-interest paid out is still positive. But on one hand, I still have a liability for as long as the finance is there). The Gen 3 was paid off early. I’m hoping to do the same with the Prime.

We also like to pay off stuff early. Despite the math involved in interest rates, there's also the freedom of not being a part time slave to the lenders. And, those obligations can often get in the way of generosity.

I guess that brings me back around to the shade vs. tint question, but in a smaller scale. The shades were $8.95 plus tax. I don't think I could get tinting for anything close to that price. And, not being positive that that's the fix, it's too expensive as an experiment. If, after a full year, I never get glare, then I'd consider it.
