    You'll definitely have to drive a few miles down the interstate over 63 mph so you can experience the EV Boost phenomenon, and once on the highway check out your increased HV mileage due to the different, larger battery. If you drive P&G in your current Prius you can do the same in your PiP to increase highway fuel efficiency the same way. bisco's advice to drive low and slow is right on if you want to slowly increase your EV charge mileage as the weather warms in the spring (I almost got up to 21 miles after overnight charge this summer, dropped to 15.5 now that it's cold.) If you have a fairly regular schedule of PiP use try to recharge using the timer function in order to end charging shortly before using the car - you'll have a warm battery ready to go. If winter is cold where you live but you'd like to maximize EV driving, you can defeat the engine starting just after you leave your residence by limiting your speed to max. 30 mph for maybe a quarter of a mile, you might have to experiment with that to find the right parameters for your PiP. After that concession you can drive EV as fast as you want. The heated seats do a good job of providing local warmth until you decide to fire up the ICE.

    Guys...so I drove the PiP today and I need someone to decipher what the heck these diagrams are saying. Is something wrong with the computer? When I bought the car the dealership had the car 80% charged before I think they unplugged it. When I picked it up a couple days later the batter was only 75% on the Hybrid Battery Meter.

    And I don't get what's going on with these gauges diagrams if they are saying that the car was never used as a plugin? But doesn't regular EV (non plugin range mode, < 1 mile) count as EV in these diagrams?

    Please lend me your expertise! Did I get jipped?

    gypped. can you elaborate on the 80%/75% thing in your first paragraph?:confused:

    paragraph 2) the hsi ev/hv is resettable, not like your lifetime odo. in the first pic, no plugging in. only wall plug electricity is counted to ev.

    72 mpg without plugging in? it doesn't get any better than that!(y)

    I thought I read on the thread that the EV vs HV display moved to the EV way when travelling in EV? So does this mean owner #1 never charged it?

    i believe it does. are you in cali? a lot of people bought them for the hiv stickers.

    I'm a little rusty on my PIP gauges but it appears the previous owner didn't use EV much at all. Very common with the PIP in states with HOV lane stickers. At least they are driving a Prius while they try to game the system....

    that's it. i don't know why someone in ma would not plug in. maybe lived in an apartment? but why would you buy it? maybe it came from somewhere else?

    Inferno make sure it was bought in a CARB state if you live in MA you are CARB...although you are good to 100k miles in any case.
