Have you had a chance to check the 12v battery health?

Rajanalsb1 Is it possible that they hooked up the cables backwards? If so it could have created many problems. You may contact Autobeyours in Scottsburg IN. They specialize in Gen 2 Prius!

Remember that the Prius 12V battery doesn't crank an engine like regular vehicles, the HV battery does that. In a Prius that small motorcycle-size 12 volt battery only boots the electronics. After all your computerized systems are running, then only does the 200+ Volt traction battery turn the engine over.

Your friend gave all of its power to a large truck battery, probably depleting it beyond normal use.

If your buddy's selfless act didn't deplete it to the point of no return, the only thing that's going to bring it back is going to be several reconditioning cycles.

He should consider the possibility of another new 12 volt battery. That, and never ever try to use a AAA Battery to jump start a D cell again

Get your 12 V battery checked.......or just replace it.
And send your brother the bill.

Some big trucks have 24 V systems.
He is lucky that the only damage he did was the battery.

Pretty sure that if anything else was wrong.......fuses, etc.......it would not run after being jump started.
