372.2 miles so far, and topped off with 5.952 gallons this morning, for 62.5 mpg on this tank, though the computer only shows 57. Typically, the computer shows higher numbers, so I was afraid that something was wrong with it. I guess it all evens out, eventually.

This was cool. I was on my way home and stopped for gas 4 miles from the house. Car was completely warmed up. CIty driving at 25-35 mph on fairly level ground 4 miles. Pulled into drive and the MFD showed 73.5 mpg. What a car!

Of course, 5 minutes into my drive the next morning, it was at 58.1. Really demonstrates what the car is all about.

    Re: June 2005 mpg averages

Just put my first tank of gas in today...picked up the car on 6/20 and have done mostly highway miles (including a trip to NY).

466 miles (with 1 bar showing)
9.89 gallons (not really topped off)
    MFD: 49.2 MPG
    ActualMPG: 47.12

Sound about right for first tank, mostly highway driving? Beats the hell out of my Ford Explorer!

Just got my best tank yet.

    55 mpg by mfd
    55.06 mpg calculated

584 miles on tank. Filled within 1/2 mile of flashing bar.
10.606 gallons, after many click offs.

Well over 1 1/2 gallons more after first click off.

Driving about 80 % highway mostly 55 mph some 65 mph.
    Temperatures 70 to 100 degrees F.

Most trips 12 miles or less.

    Re: June 2005 mpg averages

I just went to the gas station before work this morning and filled it
up to the sum of 10.4 gallons. I'd driven 528 miles so that calculates to
50.7 mpg. Not bad considering most of my driving is highway driving
@66-68 mph. Plus I took a day trip in which about 1/4 of the miles (125 total) were going up and down really steep hills.

    Cheers,
    LT1bird

    Re: June 2005 mpg averages

June 21 to 29 driving, with the air conditioner on.

    Tank Miles: 375.4
    Total Miles: 8765
    Tank MPG: 61.7
    Lifetime MPG: 45.9
    Avg Temp: 80s
    Price of Tank: $13.85
    Price per Gal: $2.27

I did most of the driving before the fill-up and can verify the car's computer was settling in on 51 mpg. Of course this was not a full tank but we saw the good price and there was some concern that prices would go up this weekend.

And of course the need to post in the June thread!

1 July 2005 -- last fill-up, 16 June. In and of itself, you have to love that. So far, my monthly fuel bill has decreased by at least a third, $60 less than what I usually averaged BP (before Prius)

    Yesterday's tank -- June's miles --

    479 miles
    1892 total miles on car
    8.203 gallons at $2.249/gallon
    $18.45
    MFD indication: 57.2 mpg
Calculated MPG: 58.39 mpg -- best yet!

    Temps 50-85F
Mostly rural highway and some in-town driving, 25-60 mph

    Re: June 2005 mpg averages

Well, the fill-up came in July, but 99% of the miles were logged in June. Guess it could go either way. . .

Steward, can we have a ruling on this please?

True, I see what you mean. There really is no ruling since we don't exactly track PriusChat members' overall averages for the month.

    Re: June 2005 mpg averages

Something strange is happening. 2005 Prius, 5,000 miles, package 6, is getting worse and worse mileage. When new the mileage ranged between 48 and 54. Always got better mileage on long highway trips. Had oil changed at 4K miles (Oil is 1/8" high on stick) and last three tanks have come in just under 45mpg on car mileage and miles/gal. (Slight difference between the two.) My normal driving conditions are:
Altitude 1,000 feet. Very, very hilly. High humidity, high temps.
Rural mixed with suburban driving, very little urban.
Many traffic lights in suburban and urban areas.
Average round trip is 25 - 40 miles.
Driving style always based on economic drivng.

My question would be why the mileage has gone down, driving the same areas in warmer weather,at a time when it should go up?
    Thanks.

how high is very high with regard to temps/humidity? AC can use up a bit of energy when running full or close to full speed.
