    Hello friends,

Yesterday I bought myself a 2006 Prius with 106k miles on it. I felt like I was getting an awesome deal, super low price ($3,500) and so few miles. Merry Christmas to me! Or so I thought....

I figured I got such a good deal because the body of the car was in rough shape but when I got home I put a code reader on the car and got the following error codes: C1311, C1313, and B1271.

I am currently in a little bit of a panic. It looks like if I potentially need to get the ABS replaced (error code C1311 and C1313) could cost between $2000-3000! Not to mention whatever it would cost to correct error code B1271.

Are either of these fixes things I can do myself? As a recent college grad I'm not in the best financial situation. My old car was a 1999 Camry and I YouTube'd and fixed that thing a million times. I also understand if I should just cut my losses and chalk this up to "Tough Life Lessons I Needed to Learn."

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Happy Holidays!

The c1271 code is for your dashboard lighting if your dashboard lights don't go out from time to time don't worry about it should be fine, on the other codes what are the symptoms on the car when engine is running?

There are several write ups on people changing that unit themselves. Search around and read up on how to do it. If you did your own work on your Camry you should be ok. You are goin to need a copy of Techstream to finish the job I believe.
Sorry to hear you got ripped off. Craigslist buy?

Did anyone bother to read the repair manual for these codes (C1311/C1313)?

    The trouble areas are:
    • ABS main relay 1 (ABS No.1 relay) (C1311)
    • ABS main relay 2 (ABS No.2 relay) (C1313)
    • Skid control ECU
    • Harness and connector
Why are people assuming that the accumulator and/or accuator need replaced?

The B1271 is easily fixed for $150 plus your time. See many post on CM (combination meter) repair in the Gen 2 forums.

There is only one known place in the states that does this, and when last contacted they're no longer offering this service.
From who or where 'down under' would someone pick up a 'reconditioned' unit?

    Thanks for posting!
