i can only hope he learned his lesson on the falcon wing doors, that would kill it for me. not that i don't like them, but would want them on the front, not back. and would not want anything troublesome or costly

they will need to find ways to trim costs if the credit goes away

Everybody seems to build a bulletproof rear hatch nowadays - with failure rates near zero. Falcon wing door is likely 2x or more, the complexity of a rear hatch. That would mean once dialed in - the FWD failure rates are not necessarily much worse, failure wise / troublesome wise, than the rear hatch. Even so, besides their advantages - they definitely have disadvantages speaking from experience.

Tesla Model Y: what to expect?

    Lies.

I'll wait until they start delivering on PAST promises (i.e. $35,000 sedan) before I believe anything different.

The benefits of the falcon wing doors apply to the back, not at all on the front. If they don’t put them on the back, they certainly won’t on the front.
I don’t expect to see falcon wing doors on the Model Y at all. Elon did say at one point that the Y would have FWDs, but that was a long time ago, and I expect he has changed his mind.

Yeah, just like the lies Tesla made about production (over 55k model 3s in Q3), lies about profitability in Q3 (over $300M), and lies about gross margins (about 20% on model 3 in Q3). LIES, all of it lies!

First $35K cars will be delivered in 19Q1.
