Hello everyone I've got a well maintained 2015 Prius v wagon I love dearly! she is quite a workhorse!!! camping machine ..... cycling SAG machine, dog beach machine, daily driver machine, just an all round great machine!!

For the last several years I've had a uhaul 1 1/4" class I hitch that I would mount my 1up bicycle rack to and carry up to 3 bikes with...well, the wife and I have now gotten (back) into motorcycling and am looking to tow a small trailer with the motorcycles on it to remote places, or destinations that we dont want to ride TO, but ride around.. after reading over the forums I feel confident that this machine can handle a (light) load of two motos and a small trailer via 2" class III hitch, so I ordered up the following yesterday from Rack Attack in Pasadena....

    part # - x7192 (2")

Torklift Central | Torklift Central | 2012-2017 Toyota Prius V EcoHitch

    wiring harness -

    Torklift Central | T-One Connector: Toyota Prius V -WH65165

cargo basket (for adventures when not towing) -

SportRack Vista Folding Hitch Basket - SportRack Cargo Basket

    the basket organizer -

SportRack Hitch Basket Organizer - SportRack Cargo Basket

I went this route instead of a Yakima rack system and sky Box because it was equally as expensive, but not as versatile I can't tow with the roof rack and a sky Box!!!.....but I can with the tow hitch set up, if you know what I mean!

if anyone has good, helpful feedback on this process, or towing experience with this machine....i would greatly appreciate your thoughts!

    adventure is coming!

Towing is not recommended with a prius.

Maybe you should be driving a Camaro, Mustang or a Cuda... Never heard of a wild on the edge prius owner...

I've towed with mine. I wouldn't tow that load more than around the neighborhood with my car unless we are talking about 50cc kiddie bikes on an all-aluminum trailer.

Basically if you determine that you could tow it with a heavy motorcycle, a Prius will tow it okay. Heavier than that and things get iffy fast.

Someone on this site must have a small trailer that they tow with a Prius V. My Prius V is now 8 years old, so the extended warranty has expired. I like the idea of putting on a sport basket for camping. But I'm not sure how easy it will be to open the trunk while using the sport rack. Also sorry to hear about the issues with Torklift. I bought a 2" receiver from Torklift around the time that I bought the car and it still looks good. Hopefully, they get their act together. I think that their product is solid.

Well, not with our v until its warranty expires, but we do pull a small trailer with a Torklift 1-ΒΌ" hitch on our Gen 2. No problems after three years, including a few heavy loads, such as pebbles & river rocks for our rock garden.

Assuming this plague ever ends and they can fulfill our order, I plan to get the same hitch for the v.
