just picked up my silver PKG #3 Prius, was my dealer supposed to give me something for the tax credi

    I was so excited about getting the car I forgot to ask him about the tax info....I mean what about the 60000 unit per manufacturer, etc....??

    No, you don't need extra documentation from the dealer to file for the credit on your '06 taxes. You simply claim it. If IRS audited you, your bill of sale would be your proof-of-purchase.

    I suspect the IRS will publish rules for each car, something along the line of "If you bought your Prius before xx/xx/xxxx, enter $3150 here and on line 12".
