    Accessory Question:

How does the VIP - RS2300 Plus security system (V5) differ from the anti-theft system that is included in Package 9 (BC)? Or is it simply the same thing, available independent of the package of features?

Updates for 2005 Prius Option Packages

Cybele wrote up this excellent and well-organized summary of the various 2004 Prius Options Packages. However, the packages have changed for the 2005.

I've tried to write up the modifications below, keeping as much of Cybele's original article as possible. Feel free to alter as you see fit!

There is a "0 Package" for the 2005 models

I've updated the 2005 model chart above, because it turns out the 2004 RW model (only option: rear windshield wiper -- now standard on all 2005 models) has not been discontinued in the 2005s.

Discovered a friend of mine ordered a Prius in May in Seattle, and wanted just the "basic package"; had been getting conflicting stories from local salespeople as to whether a "basic package" was available in this area.

I said I thought not; but I went to Toyota.com tonight, and for the Seattle area, there is an option package (Option Package A -- there is no number or two-letter code associated with it) for a basic Prius. ($0 extra).

This was the old 2004 RW package, which I had mistakenly listed as discontinued. So, I've updated the info above accordingly.
