Key fob lock button missing

    The rubber covering over the lock button on the key fob has been worn away, exposing the tiny plastic button underneath. But now the tiny piece of white plastic has fallen off and the only way to lock the car is by pushing the tip of another key directly onto the exposed area underneath where the tiny piece of plastic was (picture attached). I bought a new shell, but this doesn't have the small plastic button in it so I don't think putting the electronics into the new shell will work.

    Can anyone offer any advice please?

    Unfortunately you have waited too long before addressing this- the white plastic bit is(was) part of the switch on the fob's circuit board.

    Someone who can perform electronics repair could in theory solder in a new switch (if they can find a replacement). Realistically you should figure on replacing that fob (but keep the old one as a backup).

    If you do try and just replace the case/shell anyway, be sure to swap the little RFID chip (that's what works in the dash slot for the immobilizer) from the old case to the new one. The broken switch still won't work properly, but you already have the new shell.
