Key fob not recognized after battery change

    I changed the battery on my 2005 prius base model.. red light comes on and it will lock the doors…. The car will not recognize the key even in the key slot. I tried the on,off twice and open door twice method but the car still says key is not present…. Am i missing something?

    Which battery did you change? The one in your Key Fob? Maybe you installed a bad battery? Try a different one...

    Placing the key in the key slot is supposed to work even if the key fob battery is dead.
    I don't even think it is required to be in the slot, just right next to it.
    So you must have a bad fob or the wrong fob

    gen 2 prius (2004-2008) there is a slot where you can put the key fob near the start button
