I'll buy the captive market explanation, but how many Prius have been sold with two keys apiece? No, that's not small volume. They're making these things for peanuts. It's called monopolizing the supply. Kind of like a new drug...

So you confirm that it is possible to reprogram a used SKS keyfob using a seed reset!

The answer all the rest of us have gotten is that a used keyfob cannot be reprogrammed for smart or remote functions.

I can indeed confirm, with the re-seed, the dealer can add used key fobs. My used key fobs can now be used just like the original ones with all SKS capability (lock/unlock, horn and starting car). Only difference is the mechanical keys on the 2 used ones do not work since the dealer does not have the machine to cut them.

It's a small volume for the consumer market, but yes, most companies make consumers pay dearly for a captive market.

Yep. These cheap keys probably cost them about $10 to make or even less and charge us 60 times the price. Rip off. All their accessories are rip off anyway. Well not just their accessories all car accessories are but in reality they are worthless.

When you try to sell your car second hand they con't even come into the equation because they are so worthless.
