Sucks for sure. There really are shi**y people out there. My last Prius was keyed in the work lot, front to rear. Insurance paid for the repaint of half the car (not an easy job). I could never tell the difference once I got it back. The worst part, besides paying the small deductible was not having a car for a week.

Before I’d think it was intentional... It looks identical to a scratch on my wife’s car from her purse. Accidental. She has a collection of purses with buckles that should be banned within 10 feet of any car. :) That could have happened from someone walking between two cars in a parking lot and brushing up against it. Intentional keying tends to be much deeper.

That's kinda what I was thinking when I looked at the pictures.

If you've got somebody admitting to it or video evidence or an eyewitness, then yeah it was keyed.

Otherwise you just have damaged paint and no explanation and maybe an anger management situation.

Get it filled and sealed before dirt or salt gets in and move on with your life.

Hard to be 100% sure from the pictures. Shoot! It's hard to be sure in person. But those don't look deep enough to me to be malicious. But they are frustrating.

I generally recommend anyone getting a new car to put a dent or scratch in it right away so they don't have to worry about that first inevitable blemish. ;)

Well some possible good news is, I think, some of those appear to be only through the clear coat so they might buff out or at least greatly lessen the severity.

Looks like it to me, too. Now, if it was a BMW, I'd say yea it was keyed. ;)

Too many haters out there. That sucks if it was intentional. I would go thru insurance if you can’t buff it out. I debadged my car for that reason and annoying people tailgating a Prius. Someone also keyed my car and/or it was the dealerships car wash that messed up my car before I debadged. I have damages in areas I would not of think if. Some areas I was able to buff out.

It doesn't look deep. Have you tried wiping it off with a wet cloth? It could be a smear from someone carrying something next to your car. It happened to me when the landscaper grazed mine with his leaf-blower backpack, but it came off easily when I wiped it off with a wet cloth. When some keys a car, it will go into the metal.

For the uptick in price to a Tesla I could have my PP repainted end to end 20 times.

So when you see that video of the wind blowing a garbage can into your car you can leave it a crummy yelp review?

It’s pretty deep, it has a section where it starts deep and then gets lighter.

The full story of this is that I parked my car with it sticking out into a driveway of a apartment building in my area. Not enough to block anyone in but enough to think, oh wow he really squeezed in.

the car that I parked next to took up a spot for two cars. Either spot saving or just being a bleep.

Now still no excuse. You can tow my car, but don’t scratch it.

we found someone with a ring doorbell and you can see a individual walk around my car where the scratches are but too grainy to be identifiable

    Ah, there it is.

The problem here is that this is a subjective judgement open to public interpretation. If you don't stick around to defend your viewpoint then your paint has to do it for you.

Keying someone’s car is considered vandalism and a misdemeanor in my state.

I don’t disagree with public opinion, if they considered it to be a issue then they could have easily called the local tow yard, and have my car removed, if it was truly any issue.

how does keying a car resolve anything. I will just park there again and setup a camera because idiots strike twice
