Knocking sound during start.

    I have had a foot injury and haven't driven the Prime for about 3 weeks now. I started the ICE manually switching it to HV mode since it sat for so song and it knocked on startup for about 1/2 to 1 second. I happened to be filming for a different purpose and caught it. My Prime has never made this sound before nor has any other of my toyotas in the past.

    It seemed to drive just fine. Took it for a short 3 mile drive after the ICE warmed up. Temp was 65*F as shown.

    Does this sound like a problem or can I not worry about it?

    Worry is in the eye of the beholder;).

    I added a catch can to our 2019 Prime Plus and it is catching material, similar to what happened on our old Gen3:whistle::

    What did you do to your Prime today?

    Might be something worth considering:).

    Earlier in that thread I show how I added the lines if you are interested(y).

    It kind of sounds like it blew something out of the tailpipe. I didn't hear any knocking; just the pop-like sound when the ICE first started.

    I would not worry about the sound you heard. I would worry about your habits. There's no need to force start the ICE because you haven't driven in 3 weeks. If the ICE does start, there's no need to wait for the warm-up period before driving. Short 3 mile drives do more harm than good. The only thing I would recommend is getting a 12V battery maintainer and keep it hooked up to the battery under the hood 24/7 while the car is sitting to prevent the 12V from going flat.

    Not sure:cool:.

    We need data from those that are higher mileage;).

    I throw the carrot out there when a Gen4 / Prime member shares they are over 100k miles to help with data collection:).

    If you wait on me, it'll be another 3-4 years, so I keep offering it up as a suggestion to see if we can get some data on the egr circuit(y).
