    Thanks!!

So there isn't really a limit to the cable (at least within the PiPs or Prime's capability) for amperage? The Prime will charge at 15A at L2. 12A at L1 (unless you limit it to 8A)

Most of the ones on Amazon are 16 Amp for a 20 Amp breaker. There are an almost infinite number of sockets available.

So I'll need to figure out which socket it has before looking at cables.

the more amperage the evse is capable of, the thicker and more unwieldy the cable becomes. the difference between my oem and 30 amp aftermarket is huge.
but the car has the charger and limits what the evse can supply.

I guess that's the benefit of an EVSE - it holds the cable and you only have to carry a portion of it.

I think he means the EVSE is mounted to the wall instead of their being a strain on the electrical receptacle from the EVSE weight.

    that would be incorrect.

    1) i don't think anyone make a high amp evse with brick, and even if they did, you would hang it and the cable would be the same.
the worst part is the stiffness in cold weather.

When I lived in Canada (for a year in 1987) my coworkers had attended college in the US but were unable to get work visas. So they got work visas in Canada, and tried to remember which was the US spelling and which was Canadian. So they asked me and spelled it the other way. I was reliably wrong.

Hockey was a good low contact game until a Philadelphia team made fighting a strategy. That ruined it for me.

To side step a really fun conversation I'd love to join since I went to school in British Columbia, the EVSE you can take with you like the OEM one, you obviously take it all with you. The wall mounted ones, you take nothing with you. It's more or less permanently connected to the wall. However, even with the portable ones like the OEM, they need to be hung on to some sort of support to keep the wires from pulling out. My L2 is just hanging on a short rubber bungee on the end of a shelf. Some here have made really nice looking hangers for them.

Looks like the guide will need an additional photo, since that appears to be a new misconception in the making. This wall-mounted charger takes 2 seconds to remove...

All you have to do is unplug & lift. That's it. The unit hangs from a bracket. Here's a link for the bracket...

    Mounting Bracket for JuiceBox

You can purchase extra ones for convenient mounting at each location you transport it to. You can even purchase a bag for transport.

With the "new" 240 V cables starting at under $200 the only differences I see are
    price and convenience.
[ edit: Oh yeah, there is always the planned obsolescence of a product to take into account prior to purchase. ]
From what I gather you can get a cable to plug into either your houses electric dry, range or 240v A/C plug
in whatever NEMA variant one needs..

With the wall mounted "home charging station" one typically needs a new circuit installed in a "convenient" location for plugging in.

    - that's just from where I'm looking at it as a potential user, others may see it in a whole other light -

Nice. Are the hard wired ones on hangers, too, or just the plug-in models?

I was thinking of hard wired and totally forgot about some wall mounted units having plugs. And of course, it's easy to put a plug on the hard wired ones anyway.
