    I guess I agree with you. I've been to other countries where used cars are practically the same price as new cars until they are completely unrepairable.

    On the other hand, the used car market in the USA is still way off from what it was. I used to be able to buy a $1,000 vehicle that would get me just about anywhere without much work needed. It might not have been good looking, but at least it was somewhat reliable. Nowadays I don't see those same $1,000 cars. A $1,000 car might work for a week or two, maybe get you around your neighborhood, but definitely not get you halfway across country without a major failure.

    Lately, I've seen more and more several-thousand-dollar vehicles that suddenly need a several-thousand-dollar repair. I don't think the USA is still going to have the cheapest used cars in the world.

    And even if we do keep that position as having the cheapest used cars in the world, the new cars here are lame, so they are even lamer when used.
