Sell the car before everyone finds out it's a piece of crap. I'll give you $10,000 for it?

I have, once, had a hard time getting a pump to pump ON, as I had the nozzle too far/not far enough in the thingy (technical term). As DH is a chivalrous sort who insists on pumping the gas (and opening doors), I rarely need to fill up Rudy.

It does seem to require a slightly different, uh, "stance" than other cars, but once you get that, it works fine.

I've been wondering if the problem occurs because the bladder does not create a sharp spike in pressure when it reaches full the way a steel tank would. Maybe the pumps are designed to click off with a sharp pressure spike... our rubber bladder just absorbs or attenuates that spike and the pump never shuts off. I've had BGT twice, not because the pump never shut off but because I topped it off. I don't do that anymore, I'll see if it ever happens again.

I had a Hummer for 3 years. Loved every minute of it. Never had a problem with fuel spilling out of the tank spontaneously either. The Prius is a great car. But just has annoying traits that I don't think belong on a $30,000 ride. My 2 cents...

I'd feel guilty asking that much for this piece of crap. Heck I'm thinking of raffling it off at my daughters school carnival next week. I just put my order in for a new BMW X6. Once it arrives, I'll think hard about keeping this Prius around. I may keep it as a my back up car when the in-laws come into town. :fencing:

How much then? by the looks it, and seeing your past cars seems like you have money to spend on whatever car you want, why waste it on a toyota then? Im sure alot of us here will be more than happy to buy your "piece of crap" off you.

I filled up my tank for the first time today. I was down to 1 pip on the fuel gauge (not blinking), but the car only took 6 gallons before the fuel pump clicked off. I filled it slowly, regulating the speed manually. Shouldn't the car be taking more fuel than that? After filling, all but 1 pip is full.

Me thinks some "'chit'-stirring" may be afoot. The reference to the Hummer seems to be a bit troll-ish. :eyebrows:

1 year and 24,000 miles never had that problem of gas spilling out the tank, if anything the pump shuts off when it shouldn't for me. As far as $30,000 you paid nearly $9000 more then me, obviously mine is a lower package. But damn your dealer must have seen you coming a mile a way.

Try filling on the highest speed. That'll give the pump that "spike" that might be needed to trigger it's autoshutoff.

That is what I am going to do next time. I think it will work better for the BP pumps.

Vlad I live in Rochester MN. Not Rochester NY. :)

My sale price is firm. The extended warranty and aftermarket work done brings the car to over $30,000 [this includes the sales tax, of course] But if you're serious please PM me and you can fly into Rochester MN and drive the car home to NY. Thanks.
