Looks like I am not alone with the reservation issues:

Reservations for Nissan Leaf Begins, With a Few Glitches | Hybrid Cars

"At HybridCars.com, we were unsuccessful in placing our reservation. After completing a survey and entering our credit card information, the link to the final confirmation screen was incorrectly redirected to a video about the ordering process. We placed a phone call to the toll-free dedicated Leaf support line for assistance. After waiting 45 minutes to speak with a representative, he informed us that many customers were experiencing this glitch. The agent took our number and said that we would get a call back within 48 hours—or “possibly within 7 to 10 days"

From Nissav Leaf facebook I see 15 to 20% who had problems (may be self-selected for more problems).

    - Yes, I’ve paid my deposit and am ready to go. ( 110 votes ) 68%

    - I’m trying to, but have been unable to do so thus far. ( 19 votes ) 12%

LOL. Apparently they used a company called "MC software" or so a tweet said, which I can't find now.

ps : "To cut your software development and maintenance cost to at least half." - thats what MC claim in their website. Apparently at the expense of half the reliability.

Their web site is screwed up in so many ways! Consider that stupid credit-card field. Why not just have an open field to allow for cards with different format? And why not make the fields big enough to actually show the numbers you enter? And if you go to the page that describes the car, and you click on an item of information about the car, you get answers to other questions but never an answer to the question you clicked on.

Total disaster. This whole mailing list & preorder business is a disaster. They succeeded in getting us all hyped up and excited over the reservation process, and then they blew it big time.

Let's hope the cars are built/designed better than the website :)

As an IT professional I see their main problem ...
    - Style over substance
    - Not enough testing

You need to nail the main user scenarios first, before concentrating on making things slick.

Well, fortunately, the whole thing worked just fine for me, even though I was daring and used Firefox to make my reservation!

The website is annoying though, and I prefer what I've been told is the old one:
