It's been a journey. My 2007 needed replacing 5 months ago, at around 170,000. Got the P0A080 code. Bought a refurbished battery from Hometown Hybrids (HH). Ran great for two months and then died again. I got the following codes this second time around: P0171, P0138, P3011.

Cleaned the MAF per HH's suggestion. Reset codes and drove for about 20 miles before the warning lights were triggered again.

Took car to local dealership and they got the following and recommended new battery: P3000, P3011, and P0A80. I don't know why the P0A80 didn't show up again with my meter. They're notoriously untrustworthy, the dealership, so took it for second opinion but got the same codes, minus the P3000.

I had received the replacement refurbished battery by then, so they just put that in. And it ran for close to 100 miles before I got a new code altogether: P0606...ECM/PCM. From my understanding, that rarely needs fixing.

My question is: did I simply not clean the MAS well enough? Or do I need to also clean the throttle body?

Any suggestions, pointers would be much, much appreciated. Too much spent on this already, just diagnosing it.

    Welcome to PriusChat!!
Many will use a "mini-vci" cable and techstream (dealership technician level diagnostics software) loaded on a windows device (or you can emulate). Others might use an OBD2 bluetooth adapter with an App like Dr Prius, Torque (learning curve), or Hybrid Assistant.

thank you SFO! Came back this time with another P0138, and no other codes. So maybe the ECM is ok?

I'm attaching some pics, from both Dr. Prius and Torque Lite. Torque Lite didn't give me any specific number codes, so not really sure how to proceed, other than to assume it needs a new downstream 02 sensor.

Here is the workup for DTC P0138 : https://share.qclt.com/%E4%B8%B0%E7%94%B0%E6%99%AE%E7%91%9E%E6%96%AF%E5%8E%9F%E5%8E%82%E8%8B%B1%E6%96%87%E6%89%8B%E5%86%8Cpdf%E6%A0%BC%E5%BC%8F/repair%20manual/04pruisr/05/2054m/cip0136.pdf

Given the mileage, it wouldn't surprise me the b1s1 upstream A/F sensor is failing. When replacing many will use a dealer or Denso sensor.

The advanced search feature is working, and there are a bunch of DTC P0138 related threads that might be worth reading. Here is one of the most recent from just last month : P0138 testing procedure | PriusChat
