I conclude the backfeed is internal to the LED-backed lower rear reflectors, from low (white) to high (red).

Do you have to remove the lens's cover from underneath or you can just pry off the stock lens from the outside because I saw the clips on the kit that I bought, which look like it can be pushed in to lock?
    Thanks,

One retaining screw in center of back of bezel (rear of bumper cover, from beneath), the two friction clips are for secondary retention and location.

Just installed mine yesterday connecting both parking and brake lights, NO third brake light glow as seen below (y):

I am not sure if you have a short circuit somewhere but I cut a notch where the wires passes under the weather strip to relief the pressure and taped up the wires at that spot for extra protection as seen below:

I was going to say that having wires against bare sheet metal edges looks like a short circuit waiting to happen.

True, though the metal edges are formed and painted, not sharp -- until cut by the Dremel tool.

That's why I used Super Tough 3M tape over that spot after I rounded off the sharp edges with a jewelry file. ;)

There's always going to be a certain amout of movement and rubbing involved in a situation like that. It WILL short, sooner or later.

I'd be drilling a hole and using a rubber grommet.

Every time the gate opens or closes, every time you hit a bump, hot/cold cycles....... lots of movement.
Check it in a few months, you'll the tape wearing away.

FWIW, I went back and connected the stop lamp function. Works fine and get no current bleed into the CHMSL.

Brake lamp conspicuity greatly improved, day and night.

    Including shipping
From SHARE+STYLE via Rakuten, including shipping, $62, though that was when the Yen was higher. I'd estimate $60 today.

    Just ordered these yesterday.
I'm doing it for the added safety. Las Vegas is a 24 hour drinking and drugs town and every little bit of illumination helps.
I'll hook them up as "parking lights", not as brake lights.

You know they can be both, right? They are a three wire, dual density LED array.

I may have my local custom shop do the install for making them dual purpose lights IF indeed they don't reduce the normal brake light brightness.
