I hear you but as you know, that doesn't make speeding right, either. Remember what your mother (probably) said "If everyone else was jumping off a bridge, would you do that, too?" :p

But then I'm a major geek when it comes to following traffic laws. And I do exceed the speed limit occasionally, mostly to keep up with the flow of traffic and not get run over or shot.

I agree completely -- I was trying to make a comparison to the Bible story where Jesus tells the crowd that "He who has not sinned should cast the first stone" at the adulterer they all came to shout at and put to death by stoning.

If you haven't broken the law while driving your car then, by all means, give Chris Spaulding Holy Heck and feel good about doing it. On the other hand, if you HAVE broken the law then don't make it seem as if Chris will be the only one doing it. Feel free to tell Chris about safety concerns that haven't been beat to death in 200+ posts, but do it in such a way that acknowledges we've all done stupid and possibly illegal things before without concern over the consequences. The people that live from their mistakes usually tell others not to make their same mistakes (except the people in those JACKA** movies).

Yeah, I know, but it's hard to resist commenting on such an obvious mistake to someone so willing to make it!

To those who have no problem with it:

Just because a small minority of people can drive while intoxicated with no problem, does that mean that everybody should be allowed to drive while intoxicated?

YES, but most importantly it depends on the drivers charisma with the 'chicks'

2008 is a new gen of Prii drivers, a true hybrid of both car and owner. Green and pimp!
Get over it and out of the way! We've got chicks to magnetize!

Without bluetooth? Studies show talking w BT is JUST as distracting to the driver as w/out. Google it.
Funny how you were so sure about that huh?

Such strong opinions against TV on the MFD - even without any clarification on parameters such as: programming, volume, driving conditions, location, etc., and still very interesting no one thinks other MFD video is distracting(consumption screen, energy screen, gps maps, climate controls...)
How do you know the MFD TV example in question isn't given the same usage attention as other MFD functions and therefore just as fine?

If it's used the same then to hate MFD TV is to hate all MFD functions!

You better unplug your MFD. Don't want to harm innocents

Hey, Jack, congratulations regarding the baby. Just remember, your wife does not really mean all that stuff she is screaming at you!

Just for the record, I regularly turn my screen off because it is a distraction.

Blurting out inappropriate derogatory terms to make a point on a discussion not even clearly defined in context is even worse you DH.

You can't really call someone a DH, and then say that he's blurting out derogatory terms at you. It would make you a hypocrite, which I'm sure you are not.

    No name calling please. :)

Man, this forum is a wild ride, and a good laugh

I think most people in here agree the TV is a BAD idea and the 'pimpage' ridiculous (and I am a young male), they are just saying these things in jest....which I think gets to what the OP was also pointing: Its a terrible idea...but its also kind of a cool idea...

I mean, I would never do it, I would never want anybody on the road to do it. But if some guy in his garage did it for fun and posted pictures of the mod, I would have a good laugh, the guy who did it would have a good laugh, and we could all go on our ways.

It reminds me of this video:

I never ever want to encounter that car on the road, nor would I ever do something so insanely stupid...but its pretty cool to watch!

Anyway, in response to the poll question...There's a clear distinction morally (for me, anyway) between doing things that might hurt you vs. doing things that might hurt others as well. It's your "right" to do foolish things that could result in injury to yourself or your own property, but not to do things that could result in injury to others or their property.
