Well, my wife convinced me that we needed to buy a new house and move to Oregon. She is already there.

I am dragging my feet at our Washington abode.

She was just put under a Level 2 Evacuation order because of a raging wildfire. She said she may show here or she might stay with some friends in Southern Oregon. Pandemics, riots, fires....

What are the seven seals? Have they been broken

    LEVEL 2
YOU MUST PREPARE TO LEAVE AT A MOMENTS NOTICE

This level indicates there is significant danger to your area, and residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the affected area, or if choosing to remain, to be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice.

Residents MAY have time to gather necessary items, but doing so is at their own risk.

THIS MAY BE THE ONLY NOTICE THAT YOU RECEIVE

Emergency services cannot guarantee that they will be able to notify you if conditions rapidly deteriorate. Area media services will be asked to broadcast periodic updates.

Things happen in "nature" that tend to weed out the weak and stupid.
I think the stupid part of the population has been flourishing for too long now.
Time for an adjustment. Maybe more than one.
Alas, there is some "collateral" damage.......and some of the "target" group escapes.

Above are two links to descriptions of the seven seals.
To me, even the summaries of these seals differ and then there are thousands of years of opinion and interpretation.

I thought the seals began with the Anti Christ taking over government.
Some may say in USA Biden/ Harris are the Anti Christ, others may say Trump/Pense are.
In Ukraine, some may say Putin is the Anti Christ.

As for the other seals, there is not world wide famine, war or death - though some countries have food shortages, other countries are at war and Covid & Cancer have reduced the population.

I may be answering the OP post is an unexpected way.
True, the fires the USA west coast are experiencing are catastrophic as our hurricanes, floods and other disasters of nature.

OP asks, "What are the seven seals? Have they been broken?"
IMO I'd say the seals have not been broken.

Very deep topic, could be discussed & documented for hours.

Things aren't as quiet in this neck of the woods:cool:.

We evacuated due to the LNU complex fire several weeks ago. Now here is the afternoon sky today at high noon:eek::

At least that batch of fires is 90+% contained as a optimistic view(y).

I don't think wildfire management is one of the seals, and I hope your wife is OK.
If she's still in the house tell her that wildfires are no joke.

Most people who perish in wildfires do so for the same reasons that they die in hurricanes, which is the inability to flee once things get bad.
That's not exactly a brilliant....er....revelation but tell her to at least keep her car filled up and to have more than one bug out route committed to memory if she's not already very familiar with the area.
The good news is that if a wildfire rages through your neighborhood then it will reduce the available fuel for the next few fire seasons.

What he said!! We have a friend in Colorado whose parents died in a wildfire there a few years ago because she went back into the house to get something. They were cutting it that close!

Wifey left like a shot and has been with relatives drinking their chardonnay about 60 miles from the fire. Personally, I prefer ABC wine (anything BUT chardonnay).

However, she left so fast, all she grabbed was her suitcase of clothes and various "personal care items packed in said suitcase."

Left behind my brand-new lawn mower (all-electric), hedge trimmers, tool boxes, etc.

I thought about driving down yesterday and grabbing them, but decided the 10-hour roundtrip was too far, I may not have been able to reach the house anyway and did not feel like becoming a krispy kritter if I did get there and got caught by the blaze.

At the moment, looks as if the house may escape by about two or four miles.....depends on winds this afternoon and tonight.

My area in Oregon typically never burns. But this is not a typical year. Lincoln City, a town along the Oregon Coast -- where the turf meets the surf -- is burning this year. Very unusual. The Oregon Coast is usually so damp, it's tough to start a fire when you want to.

Smoke is so bad, we have about 200 yard visibility. Four bucks wandered through my place yesterday -- BIG BUCKS -- looking totally disoriented and not scared of me at all.

Deer hunting season opens in a couple of weeks. I hope, wonder, if the state will delay the opening. I know most hunters are great in terms of safety, but all it takes is one idiot and - WHOOSH.

I won't say I am scared, but I am concerned. So much so, even considered moving in with the in-laws for a couple of days. But CoVid concerns make that unrealistic.

By the way, the ENTIRE state of Oregon has been put into Level 1 evacuation mode.

Smoke maps appear very wicked in all of Western Oregon, which appears more consistently bad than California:

    09102020_smoke_105858-1536x1151.jpg

It is currently "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" (an improvement from unhealthy for everyone) up here in the metro Seattle reagion, but now that Oregon cloud will be headed our way. Hopefully most of it will stay up high, though some will mix down to the surface.

My mangy pack of mutts have been locked indoors since Monday afternoon....normally they spend most of their time out of doors -- and how we ended up with the pack is still unclear to me. It happened when I was recovering from an accident and was under the influence of pain meds a year ago.

At any rate, none of us could stand it any longer so -- despite air quality that is off the scale of dangerous to everyone -- I took them all out into the death cloud of smoke this evening for a 10 minute jaunt that turned into 30. I have since been hacking and coughing. Meanwhile, the canines are all peaceably sleeping. GRRRR.

Just read we are having a La Nina winter this year. The rains can't come soon enough.

La Niña has arrived. Here's what it could mean for you - CNN

For a relative gauge of smoke density here now --

Yesterday, my solar system's power peaked at 74% compared to the first few days of the month. Today, just 15%. If attenuation is logarithmic, that means 6X more material in the atmospheric column. Without adjusting for increased solar cell efficiency at these significantly lower temperatures.

The surface level smoke is somewhat heavier today, but by nowhere near that much. The bulk of the difference is at higher altitudes.

I've had a kludged box fan filter(multi-filter in parallel, to reduce backpressure on the fan and increase total filtered flow, MERV 12-13 filters) running continuously for two days, making the inside air much cleaner than the outside.
