How does the Canadian winter affect diesel cars? I remember my Peugeot was a real pig to start even at -5! It would miss fire and clatter and knock for a min or two after start up

No idea since I've never owned a diesel. Best to browse clubsmartcar.com. It's a canadian smart site or ask the current/previous diesel owners here (such as jayman or seftonm)

It should handle like a mini, get close to 50 MPG and Lexus interior. What a combo!

Definately worth a look for those that find the Prius to have a cheap quality. There is, however, no indication of any plans to bring it to the U.S.

    FYI,
Following is Toyota HQ's press release.
Lexus to Unveil 'CT200h' at 2010 Geneva Motor Show

It says "CT" stands for "creative touring" and "200h" refers to hybrid-vehicle performance equal to that of a conventional 2.0-liter vehicle.

So... the 1.8 HSD in the CT200h provides performance of a 2.0 litre yet in the Prius, they say it provides performance of a 2.4 litre. How does that work??? (The 1.5HSD btw is supposed to give the performance of a 2.0 litre and the economy of a 1.0 litre)

I think Prius' 2.4 liter performance is little over estimated and CT200h's 2.0 liter is little conservative.
My best expression is 2.2 liter performance for both cars. ;)

Lexus may offer higher performance CT hybrid series.

I think 6 years made the difference. Gasoline engines are improving so 1.5L HSD may have been the same as 2.0L ICE 6 years ago.

I also think CT200h is too conservative. Maybe they like to keep the numbers round 200h, 300h, and 400h as Ken pointed out.

hmmm... ok I guess so. I'm just trying to think back to my friend's 2.3 litre Accord. Maybe it's the electric motors that make it feel more powerful. It sure as heck feels as powerful as our 2002 Camry 2.4 (2AZ-FE)
