The 70%/30% ratio so far is the same as the poll Picard was beating Kirk. :D

Do you have any data to back this up? As I recall, we had a SURPLUS under Clinton.

He was French! Does that answer your question?

"We have to attack the Romulans! They have weapons of mass destruction."

"Captain, may I remind you that Federation monitors have found no weapons of mass destruction on the Romulan outpost."

"Well, attack it anyway! I'm sure they're hiding them somewhere! Scotty! Give me Warp factor 14 bazillion!"

"Captain, there's no such... er, I mean Aye aye, Captain!"

"Bones, I got a cramp in my knee. Think you can look at it?"

"Dammit, Jim! I'm a spin doctor, not a physician!"

Reagan and Bushes I and II ran/run up budget deficits. Towards the end of the Clinton administration, we were actually paying down the national debt with the surplus. What a concept! Fiscal responsibility!

Does that mean you think France is liberal or conservative?

France is veering far to the right, the last time I checked. It's moving away from integration with the EU (it vetoed the EU constitution) and taking a hard-line stance on immigrants.

It depends on which one has been in power the longest and, therefore, has screwed things up the most. Of course, I will never consider myself a liberal.

Close, but not quite. A Libertarian is a Republican who can get laid.

The poll forces you to make a choice, plus in another string a statement was made regarding this exact proportion and this is an attempt to confirm or dsiprove that contention.

Your argument and chart are flawed for several reasons, since fiscal conservatism has to do with spending, not deficits. That is, deficits are not dictated by spending alone, but spending in proportion to tax receipts so your chart really doesn't say who spends more, only who spends more relative to tax receipts.

Also, it is Congress, not the Executive branch, that controls the purse strings, though the Executive branch does sign the spending into law.

Regardless, it has been said that Democrats are the party of Tax and Spend while Republicans are the party of Borrow and Spend.

So, what was the contention that was made? Was is proved or disproved?

I'll tell you the purpose on Friday.
Here's a clue - a post by JackDodge on another string prompted the poll.

The poll seems to be documenting the obvious.
