All the negative reviews must be from non-so-cal areas. Thanks for the recommendation.

Agreed. I can see how harsh weather can cause it to rust prematurely. FWIW, I wash my car at least once every 10 days and I've never had a problem with it rusting. I also have the same frame on my wife's car and no issues there either.

If you live within 2-3 miles of the coast line, rust can also be a problem. I happen to live within 3 miles of the ocean and my dealer's chrome plate is starting to rust after 2 years... and i do wash the car weekly, too.

I don't mind replacing the frame in about 2-3 years. I just don't want it to rust or look like crap in less than a year. If that's the case I won't spend the 10 bucks. Thanks for all your help, guys!

I have a chrome TRD frame on the back plate. I am sure virtually no one who sees it knows what TRD means, but I like the irony

TRD is a very unfortunate name. Pronounces TARDY, spells like TURD.

Do any of you want to sell me your old front license plate holder? My poor Prius got backed into and I need a new one . It's about 100 dollars from the dealership in I'm looking to get a better deal. Let me know if you can help a girl out!

I live in a state with no front plate. If I still have my front plate bracket, I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. PM me if interested.

Hey mnml, so I received these in the mail today and installed them. The frame looks and works great. Unfortunately the chrome caps don't seem to work right. They just fall off because the chrome cap is a bit too big for the rubber cap that goes underneath. How did you fit them? Any advice? I don't want to mess with super glue in case I need to take them off in a couple of years... thanks for your help!

Hey man, the caps should snap into the rubber cap that goes underneath. It takes a little bit of force to get it to "snap" into place. Once they're snapped into place, it should stay in place quite well. If they're not working for you, I would return and get a replacement set.

Yah... I wrote to the seller and they told me it's defective. :( They refunded me, though!

Dude, just go w/o a frame. Too much bling makes the car look ghetto. When it comes to accessories, less is more.

I was stopped at a light behind a Jetta yesterday and heard this strange, repeating rattling noise coming from the car. Then I realized that there was a sub-woofer in the trunk of the Jetta and every set of thumps made the bare license plate jump around on the loose screws.

I'd say it depends on the license plate. For example, the blue California whale tail license plate has a white border, which looks absolutely distracting (especially on black car). I got a simple black pearl frame to hide this white border. Frameless on the standard white CA license plate looks pretty clean.

Aesthetics preference will vary from person to person. I guess being that I enjoy photography, I tend to frame things. Having a white CA plate without a frame look incomplete to me. If the plate was completely flat then I can see not running a frame. However, there's an indentation around the border which make it look unfinished, imo. To me, it looks like someone added borders around the plate but didn't frame it. Whatever floats your boat.

Never thought a frame would make such a difference! Picked up a stainless set off amazon, ended up being chrome, but it looks great. Covers the rusty plate edges nicely. Pics to follow
