License Plate light bulb Replacement - 2006 Prius

    You have to remove the inner hatch cover to get to the bulbs. Pull the cover off forcefully,rip it right off. You cannot be gentle with it.

    This may end up hurting your fingers because the cover is held tightly by 11 blue tabs

    Thanks! Ok, I'll take my lumps. But, important, how do you put the hatchback panel back on again properly? What are the chances of breaking the blue tabs or the panel?

    It's pretty hard to break the cover, it's pretty flexible. There is a very small chance to break the tabs, you would need to pry off the ones that are stuck to the car hatch and put them back on the cover. There should be 11 total.

    I've taken these apart numerous times on my 3 Gen2 cars, never broken one yet.
