List reasons why I shouldn't trade in my Gen III Prius for a Prius C

The c is meant to be an appetizer to get people into hybrids. Toyota wants c owners to graduate into higher models. Why go back for a few MPGs? It's too small (for me), spartan interior, floor mount gear selector (huge step back IMO), and doesn't look as good. No 17" rims. Do it if saving gas is that important to you but I've got my sights on the next gen PiP.

60-75 mpg in the city mid 50's on the interstate ( i once got 77 driving 30 min in the city)
long term ave is 54 + was much better until my wife drove it for a few days
this mpg is very easy to attain without great effort

    You're right...

    Prius c Two - $19,900 - adds –
    • AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, 6 speakers in 6 locations, auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod® connectivity, auto sound leveling, hands-free phone capability, phone book access and music streaming via Bluetooth® wireless technology
    • Variable intermittent windshield wipers
    Fabric-trimmed two-tone front seats, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat; 4-way adjustable front passenger

    ----------
6-way adjust is important. I sat in a Scion iQ recently, dont' think it was a base model, no seat height adjust, no way I could drive that car, head hitting roofliner.

I think any savings in the improved gas mileage will be almost wiped out by the hit you would take on the trade in, assuming you do this through a dealer trade. You may get lucky any sell privately but I still don't think you would get back enough to make-up the difference in fuel savings.

And I would test drive or rent one for a day or so to make sure it really does live up to the hype. Otherwise I would be concerned about buyer's (trader's ?) remorse. Then you'd really take a hit on trade values.

For me, I'd wait to see what the Gen II looks like. I can see a performance package on this that would make for a sporty little ride.

Can't really give you a reason because I'm planning on the same thing, haha! I've had two Prius', both the highest package. 2006 was a package 8, then I turned it in for the 2010 package V with the bigger wheels. My lease is up in a few months and if I like the way the C drives, I am prepared to get a package four with moonroof (and possibly the 16-inch alloys, we shall see). Am I crazy to go down to a lesser car? Maybe! But i've double checked the package info numerous times already and everything I can possibly want and need is in this little C. Plus it's soooo adorable looking! I just love it :) Can't wait till March :cheer2:

because the dealers will smell blood in the water on how bad you want the c and you will take it up the back side on your trade.

Why? because in 3-4 years, there'll be a new Prius LB lol. By then it will make sense to upgrade (if you want to)

I am not convinced of the increased MPG for everyday driving. I live in a windy area and fairly cold in the winter, and I was lucky to get 45 mpg on the last tank (on my Gen 3 II).

    Shorter wheelbase = bumpier ride.

Lower cost makes me assume that they'll cut corners in some areas, ie. sound deadening the doors and sheet metal = lots of road noise.

If you have an unlimited amount of money just burning a hole in your pocket, then go out and buy a new Prius C. Or better yet, buy two or three cars and help get us out of the Great Recession.

On the other hand, if you are like most of us and have to budget your limited resources (money), then keep your 2 year old car that is working well for you.

Appreciate what you have, and stop feeling sorry for yourself for all the things you don't have.....

Oh come on. If everyone had that attitude nobody would go back to school to get a better degree or more realistically rob a bank in a Ski Mask....

I'm FOR higher education and Ski Masks...

Lulz is still in school and has not established a career, unless you're encouraging him to rob banks.

You don't change cars like you change clothes unless you're wealthy. I'm just getting used to a car at 3 years. At 10 I start to really appreciate it. At 15 it's time to donate it to charity. There's a lot to be said for appreciating what you have. This assumes that you got a good car that you like in the first place, of course.

I'm saying in general. I'm not being specific about Lulz.

But if you want a Public Service Announcement?

Yep, the best way to rob banks is to own one. Maybe that should be Lulz's career choice.

    I don't disagree.

But wisdom is not necessarily fun.

If someone has the resources? Who am I to ask them to embrace a wisdom in the face of the sheer unreasonable fun of a colored MID and new car smell?
