Lithia Automotive to transition to fixed pricing

From the 10/29 issue of BusinessWeek...

An article entitled, Haggling Starts to Go The Way of the Tail Fin, happens to suggest that (as a sidenote) the current practice of "wheeling and dealing" is actually un-American.

A consultant for Lithia, who is assisting with this program, suggests, "...when you think about it...negotiating price isn't in our culture."

What an interesting spin; I don't think I've ever heard it put quite that way before.
