If I had a PiP in Florida needing a battery, I would see if Todd from Tampa Hybrids could find a good used one.

IMHO, by the time a battery needs to be replaced, its probably time to consider a new car. Especially with how battery technology is going.

Have you or someone had a look at the bus bars on the battery? Corrosion can also cause capacity loss.

I don't know about the PiP battery but the regular gen 3 battery's bus bars easily corrode...

I wish there was an easy way to sneak a peak at them.

There's not much you can do with "maintenance" - Li-ion batteries have a shelf life, so will degrade with time regardless of how they are stored or maintained. The only real solution is to manufacture new batteries, which probably won't happen (unless a third party does).

It is unknown whether Gen 4 Prius Li-Ion battery modules would work in a PiP.
We know the Ni-MH Gen 4 ones work in previous generations. Do not mix generations of modules within a pack though.

Not if it isn't installed in the original vehicle.

Oh for sure. I was referring to long term ownership after that (8 years for me in Texas).

but the warranty is only good if the car throws a code.

My 2014 PiP just "suddenly" lost a few miles. I am very frustrated, when I purchased the car it was advertised here as a "15 mile EV range" but it was 12.1 or so from new. It rapidly dropped to 11.x and then later to 10.9 ish on a full charge. It stayed like that for quite some time.
Recently I got in, and saw the range just suddenly drop and now a full charge is only 8.5.
The car hardly has 30k miles and is only just 3 years old, do I have a right to be annoyed by this or is 8.5 expected at this point?
It's winter here but the temp is still 10'c+ so it's not like its super cold.

    Actual or Estimate ?

As for advertised, the official rating is 11 miles.

8.5 estimate when fully charged, but driving shows that to be pretty close to the actual range too, possibly a bit over (real may be 8 or less).

Official rating from where? I definitely was told it was 15 when I purchased the car, but I remember seeing 12 or 13 on some paperwork, I have never heard 11 as an official figure. I wonder if it was updated?

Basically, I feel 8.5 is too low for a 30k car. Is it me or is this "normal"? My worry is that maybe there is a bad cell and I should have it looked at by the garage, but if it's me being silly I don't want to pay for a needless checkup.

    Footnote 4 says
    4. Prius Plug-in EV Mode is a blended operation of electricity
and gas and can work under certain conditions up to 11 miles on a full charge

    From the sales brochure.

there is no 'normal', because range depends on operating conditions. temp is very important, acceleration, speed hills and etc.
you would have to have done some early range experiments to know what is going on.
i get between 10 and 15, depending on outside temp, but that is all local driving at 20-40mph, with few stops.
how long have you owned it?

EPA rating, the value down on the sticker-price.

Whomever told you was misinformed or misleading.

Its just 3 years old, bought new. It's all city stop star driving and it has previously been around 10/10.5 as an accurate range.
My concern is why it suddenly dropped. I charge it one morning, 10.5, I charge it the next and 8.5. I don't consider 10'c to be cold (current temps in London).
Nothing changed suddenly other than the estimated range, not the temp, conditions or driving. It just decided it had less range one morning and has not gone back. If it had been a gradual depletion I wouldn't worry but it was the fact it was so sudden (between 2 charges on 2 days.
