    Hi everyone,
I recently join this awesome forum because I had an awesome deal -$9000 for a 2014 prius TWO with 67k lineup up ready to purchase. Well, that deal fell through this morning. I was totally turned off and wanted to forget about the prius all together but I'm on the hunt again. I think this community forum is great and would provide a lot of help if I ever encounter any issues.
That being said, I cam across a 2008 Prius with 60K on it for around $6600. I may be able to get that down a bit.
I plan to keep this prius for 3-4 years putting about 12-15k miles per year. Do you think its better to get a newer car with higher milage or an older car (2008) with low milage. My main concern of course is the battery. I would appreciate any thoughts or advice.

Keep in mind i currently get about 24mpg with my sonata and I'm not complaining about it. The gas savings with the prius is just a plus. My other option would be a 2013 Altima 40k miles for around $8k or 2008 Accord 80k miles for $5600

    Thank you guys and gals

Another option is the 2012 Prius C with 55k miles for 8000

With the battery being a major maintenance expense, it's better to get a Gen 3.

    welcome!
2008 is a great year. if the history is clear, and the price is right, and you like the test drive, i'd go with it. same with the c if you like it.

    all the best!(y)

Caco, if you plan on keeping the car for 3-4 years, look for one where you have decent odds on getting in and out without having to replace the hybrid battery.

Fortunately, NJ seems to be a CARB state, which started in 2009. I'm not sure what that entails. But, if that translates into a longer hybrid battery warranty, then I would look at a NJ based Prius that you can sell in a few years before the warranty expires. Prius c may not qualify for this. If you receive a 10 year/150k mile warranty on the hybrid (traction) battery, then the 2011 would make more sense than the 2008.

I have a 2013 Prius C 255,000Kms(about 158,000miles) and its brilliant car for fuel economy!! It is smaller than the Prius but that doesn't bother me because most of time just me!!
