    When the battery is charged by the engine it lowers MPG, the car is hoping it can charge via regenerative braking, which does not lower MPG.

    I was shocked to find that I could NOT do a force/ recharge with the 2012 PIP. So each Prius model is different. It's too bad as Toyota should retain the good features on all their models.


    Apologies, the 2012 PIP CANNOT BE FORCE-CHARGED, PERHAPS THE basic battery portion can AFTER the EV charge is depleted. I have never had a occasion or need to try it.
