In 195/55/16 size Michelin has 4 tyres rated (C) for economy and (A) for wet grip and 1 tyre rated (C)for economy and (B) for wet grip.

No tyres in this size have an economy rating higher than (C).

Going to 205/55/16 gives a range of tyres with better ratings, but this will require changing all four tyres. See posts 8 and 14.

Can I go to 205 without changing anything? Cause I checked and depending on where I measure, all tyres are between 3.5 and 5mm. So I will await MOT next week (to see if it is mandatory to change 2 or 4) and measure while it's up in the air instead of having to scrape the snow out of the grooves like I do now  .

And the 205's are 20% cheaper than the 195!!! Better fuelefficiency, cheaper and larger load rating. What's not to like?

Yes you can go strait to 205's without any problems. I run them myself. Just take a look at my list of 205's in post 14.

195/65/15 tyres. I have listed these tyres in no particuler order but must admit the very lowest is at the top. Ihave not gone below (B) rating for economy and have ignored tyres with poor wet grip (WG). This is not an exhaustive list. Other tyres will be added as found or notified of.
(Edit) 27/4/2014 Added Kumho A rated tyre

I'm looking to get 4 tyres for a set of 17" wheels that I have bought. I came across the above tyres as they had the best ratings for efficiency and wet grip. The price also seemed reasonable too. I just want to know if anyone has used them and if they have any feedback on them.

I am using Hankook's Eco Kinergy tyres on my gen2 Prius with 16inch rims. They are also rated BB I find them very good in fuel economy bettering the OEM tyres despite of going up to 205's and grip is excellent. I cannot say how long they will last, but going by my millage on these so far I believe they will be good for 40/45,000 miles.

After contacting them for information I have received an Email from "Tyres on the drive" a home or workplace tyre supply and fit company.

They are able to supply and fit the new Bridgestone Ecopia 001s 195/65/15 AA rated tyre at an all in price for one tyre of £83.84. This price is subject to discount depending on the number of tyres purchased, and includes disposal of old tyres.

This seems to be a very good price for a home or workplace mobile fitting.

After contacting "Black Circles" I received an Email saying they had no stock and could not say when they would have stock or be able to give a price. Rather surprising result from one of the biggest online tyre suppliers.

Not straight to your question, but I've got still 3 of the original tyres Bridgestone ER33 and they are a bit noisy. Newer ER300 tyres on the front are a bit better. I'm looking for Michelins next time, I've been told that are quieter and more comfortable...

Auto Bild tested 50 summer tyres in Gen 3 size (195/65 R15):
    Sommerreifen-Test 2013: AUTO BILD testet 50 Modelle - autobild.de

Does any one have access to full test? In the free summary of the article there is only top 5 list and the only low rolling tyre in top 5 is Energy Saver + (C/A). Where is Bridgestone Ecopia EP001S or ContiEcoContact 5?

Here is another site in German with all(?) the tests from Europe:
Sommerreifen Test 2013 - Alle Ergebnisse von ADAC, Auto-Bild und anderen

It looks like Bridgestone Ecopia EP001S doesn't exist, I can't find it in stock in any on-line shops, my local tire dealer also can't find it anywhere, but he did offer a very good price (58.08 €), almost too good to be true.

Does anyone else have better luck with finding 001S? I will probably place order and wait for 3 weeks, but something tells me I will never see those tires.

I could find them on a Dutch site, the shop is located in Hannover.
    Bridgestone Ecopia EP001S 195/65/15 91H. [IMG] A [IMG] A [IMG]69 dB (€80,80)

Second choice on that site (a bit more rolling resistance)
    Dunlop Sport BluResponse 195/65/15 91H. [IMG] B [IMG] A [IMG]68 dB * (62 euro)

The Dunlop tire has the highest DEX score (Bridgestone second), but I don't know what that means.

Did you actually get the tyres (EP001S), I just received e-mail that no one has them yet, that they are imported from Japan and no one knows when they will arrive. Also he is pessimistic about the price (58.08 €) that it's probably wrong.

Maybe there are some left from previous batch but definitely hard to find. I placed order on POPGOM there was warning that they are not on stock and if they will not be available within 5 days that I will get a message.

No, did not inquire or order them yet. Did you inform in the shop I linked? €58.08 is way less then this one charges.
If I read this I would go for the Dunlop.
Still puzzled about this DEX score, where Dunlop has a higher (the highest actually) rating than the Bridgestone.

DEX score is a customer rating (over 40.000 customers in Europe) of the tyre, I wouldn't trust an average customer to know how good one tyre is. Considering EP001S is brand new tyre with apparently low availability we don't even know how many customers rated it. I'm concerned about tyre wear, Dunlop is not that good, but other Bridgestone models are not good either, we can only guess what the tyre wear will be on this new EP001S.

I did get an e-mail from Popgom, that they are expecting the tyres to arrive in their warehouse on 10. March, we will see.

PS: My OEM Ecopia tyres lasted only 30.000 km, there is some thread left but on a wet surface they were a death trap, how many km lasted yours?

Didn't buy yet. Our PIP is from Jan 1st; we bought winter tires and had the idea to swap with 17" but upon reading reports here that fuel consumption and driving comfort go south we decided to stick with 15". I thought the garage had already sold the original ones but now it turns out they still have them lying in a corner ;)

Hura, EP001S are in my garage, will mount them next week, price € 250 for all four. Curently they are not listed anymore on the Popgom site.
