@bisco your Energy Saver A/S are doing ok?

It could be a bad batch??

FWIW we're still on our original Michelin Pilot HXM4 (I think I got that right) in 215/45R17. They were manufactured Feb of 2009, have fine cracking, but plenty of tread.

They have the "Green-X" badge, but apparently the PIlot's don't any more. So much smoke-and-mirrors...

And I imagine that tires not in great demand might sit on the rack for a long time.

My husband got the Bridgestone Ecopias on his 2016 Nissan Versa Note when new. They look basically new with no evidence of any cracking. The car is parked next to my Prius v.

The new Bridgestones ride much better. However, the max pressure is only 36 pounds rather than 44 for the Michelin A/S'.

My husband and I decided that my life is not worth only several hundred dollars. Discount Tire offered a Labor Day 10% rebate as well, Bridgestone had a $70 rebate on a set of four tires.

Risking a blowout is not worth it. Out the Michelins went.

The one thing that bugs me about the Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 is that there is a US, Mexican AND Japanese version. All different tread patterns and wear indexes. Bridgestone also makes Ecopia EP20: it only comes in 195/65R15, and as far as I know does not have any variations. I've bought them several times, liked them for rolling resistance. My only negatives would be:

    1. They get noisy when worn.
    2. When down to about 6/32 they behave like racing slicks in any amount of snow. Ok if you have separate snows though.

    3. The tread rating is only 380 compared to 540 to 640 of Ecopia EP422 and no tread warrenty
    4. EP20 sells ~$30 more than EP422
    5. Not readily available in store
So, I went with EP422 on my Gen3 when OEM EP20 had an unrepairable flat, but I regretted it. Other than great mileage, I did not find any merit, so I switched to Conti TrueContact within a year.

I bought Hankooks for my car. No more LRR nonesense. I have the 17 inch wheels. Car rides smoother and better than any tire I have ever had. Had the OEM's, then Ecopia's twice. They all sucked compared to the Hankooks!

I've noticed that too, not sure if it's just supply-and-demand, or consumers value the EP20 more.

I loved those tires on my old 2002 Camry - lots of grip. When my defenders go (they're at 60K and doing fine) I might go for a stickier cheap tire like the Sumitomos.
