I'm pretty sure you're mistaken. They might still have a law against foreigners owning oceanfront property, and there may be permits required, but foreigners can own land in Mexico.

A friend of mine in Fargo was building a retirement home in Mexico. He had to jump through a lot of bureaucratic hoops, and pay bribes, but even Mexican citizens have to do all that.

?? WHAT IS NOT MADE IN CHINA ??

I am speaking of the "big box stores" like Home Depot, Lowe's as well as chains like Wal-Mart, Sears, K-Mart, Kohls, etc. and let's not forget the auto parts stores like Advanced Auto, Sears Auto Centers, etc.

Seriously, walk into ANY of these stores and for the Hell of it, just TRY to find something MADE IN U.S.A. ?? Forget about clothing, some of the countries clothing is made is truly unbelievable....

You'll probably find things like motor oil and batteries in the auto parts stores, maybe some wax and polishes, but very, very few items in stores like Wal-Mart are made in USA, same goes for even Sears. In the Home Improvement stores there are over 90% Made in China "crap".... with the exceptions of things like bricks, bagged cement, wood, sheetrock and PVC and copper pipe are a few of the very few USA made items. Even copper fittings, shut-off valves, all Chinese made "junk" !!

And if it isn't made in China, it's MEXICO !! Tried to find electrical commercial grade switches of "quality" like Leviton, forget it, Made in Mexico crap !!

And we can all thank Mister Bill and his NAFTA !!

NAFTA was negotiated by the administration of President George Herbert Walker Bush. The treaty was signed on December 17, 1992, a full month before President William Jefferson Clinton was inaugurated.

Oh, yes, the ratification vote in congress was 132 Republicans and 102 Democrats voting in favor, 156 Democrats, 43 Republicans, and 1 independent against. The vote in the Senate was 34 Republicans and 27 Democrats voting in favor while 10 Republicans and 28 Democrats voted against its ratification.

The least you can do is give credit where it's due. The Republican Party.

No. We can thank the American consumer that doesn't want to pay. They want cheap, cheap cheap. Don't expect Nordstrom quality at Walmart prices. "You get what you pay for."

It wasn't Bill that gave us NAFTA. It was congress. And congress did what the corporate lobbyist told them. There is a lot more than NAFTA that is the problem and it all has to do with tax breaks and profits for big business. No one sees beyond how that effects the average consumer.
