As I’m more fortunate with the state of rust on my Prius, then I wonder if a $170 basic underbody rust prevention is a good call....?

    No.

These coatings typically do provide protection, but also can plug drain holes in the body and if that happens, you drastically accelerate the demise of the body.

Best to DIY. And, having made some attempts myself, it's of mixed benefit. Maybe concentrate on small bolts that hold panels and whatever, remove and oil-soak them before they completely seize.

Anyone else have issues with their HID headlamps like this?

Dealer? That is pretty cool, very detailed report, but off on a few items.

    - The transaxle has a plug and you CAN check the level, something they should have done.
    - Rear brakes are fine, worn yes, but fine.
    - 4 cans of break clean? For what??? Not paying for that, no way in H#LL.
    - Over $100 to install a new waterpump belt???? $75, maybe, $100+, no way because it's like a 10 minute job.
    - The pull was likely due to the bad tire, but when replacing tires is the proper time for an alignment regardless.
    - Good catch by tech on the tire!
    - $175 for 4 new plugs that take all of 20 minutes to change? Robbery.
    - Our struts are older than yours with a LOT more miles on them and they perform very well, someone is fishing for work.

They did a good complete inspection, are overselling some items and fair on most. Not bad.

Thank you for the thorough review of their estimate and quotes! Much appreciated.

Any ideas on the HID headlight?

Right front one flickers off and on. I have to turn headlights off and back on to get it to work, if I’m lucky.

Also, for a DIY on all their recommendations, do you think I can accomplish in a single day? Figure I can order parts on amazon and knock out next Saturday.

As for the tires, tire Rack will ship me the same tires mounted and balanced to black steel rims for half that. I can make that my winter set for half their price, mount myself, and purchase the lifetime alignments from Firestone for $100.

Those'll likely be aftermarket steel rims with one-size-fits-all oversized hub openings, best used with adapter rings. Not a deal breaker, but there is a Corolla steel rim that will have the correct hub opening:

Corolla steel rim, part no: 42611-02471 (2003-2008 corolla or matrix, CE, LS, S)
steel rim lug nuts, part no: 90942-01007 (plain, open-ended, galvanized)

    $20? For ONE spark plug??

I need to go into the spark plug industry!

For the record, they're $7 on Amazon. I get that shops need to make a profit, but 200% seems a tad much.

That depends on your knowledge and tools, most of those items are very routine and well within the abilities of the DIY'er. I cannot comment on the HIDs, I want nothing to do with any vehicle that has them and therefore I know nothing about them other than the aftermarket lamps and ballasts that are often fitted for replacements are CA@P!

I have had two winter sets from TR, both had quality rims, but it is worth a call before ordering to be sure of a good fit.
