We do. I thought I tagged you in that post but I'll bring it over anyway.

Thanks for the info. Could you clarify further please? Is this a measure to the tonneau cover? Is it really so much smaller even than the gen 2 which wjtracy lists as 16.1 cu ft? One of the reviews on that review thread lists cargo space as 19.8 cu ft but does not say which version of the space it is measuring. Confused! Further help would be greatly appreciated!

of course, the prime has no storage (except for the charging cable) and the battery takes up 3" in height of the floor, severely reducing the cubic feet.

No idea. It's however you Europeans typically measure hatchbacks and estates. I presume (and as wjtracy has mentioned) that it's done by loading up square boxes and measuring the usable cargo area.

The 19.8 cu. ft. is the US rating and that is the maximum cargo space (if you were to stuff the nooks and crannies with blankets or other soft items to fill the volume).

For reference, 360L/12.7 cu. ft. is slightly larger than the current generation Mazda3 sedan.

Phew! The numbers themselves are completely meaningless unless you have shape-shifting cargo. (n)

You have a point, although to me they ate useful for comparison between models if you can find like for like figures.

I have at last found a full set of official figures on cargo space for the Prime or "PHV" as it is here, on the UK Toyota website.

Luggage Capacity (laden to tonneau cover) 191 liters
    Luggage Capacity (laden to roof)
    359 l
Luggage Capacity (rear seats down, laden to roof)
    1204 l
5 seat mode (laden to parcel shelf)
    191 liters
5 seat mode (laden to roof)
    359 liters
2 seat mode (laden to parcel shelf)
    702 liters
2 seat mode (laden to roof)
    1204 liters

And the standard Gen4 for comparison:

Luggage Capacity (laden to tonneau cover) l
    343 liters
    Luggage Capacity (laden to roof)
    502 l
Luggage Capacity (rear seats down, laden to roof)
    445 l
5 seat mode (laden to parcel shelf)
    343 liters
5 seat mode (laden to roof)
    502 liters
2 seat mode (laden to parcel shelf)
    1558 liters
2 seat mode (laden to roof)
    1557 liters

P.s. Ok so there must be a typo with the Gen4 2 seat mode spec, it can't be1 loire LESS when laden to the roof! Oh well if Toyota themselves get confused I don't feel so bad about being confused myself!

Gen2 cargo space was possibly as low as 14.4 ft3 (408 liters) by EU VDA method, not including under floor space.
Prime has approx. 19.8 ft3 by "EPA cargo space method", which seems "off" for liftbacks, and not good for comparative purposes.

Cargo space numbers are so "iffy" for liftbacks, buyers really need to look at the cars for themselves to see situation.

Yeah, rear shocks can create bulges in the sidewalls for example, meaning you can't slide something like a flat screen tv in.

I took a stab at fixing the sunken cargo area. Check it out!
