In August of 2018 my 2018 Camry Hybrid was exactly 1 week old. I parked it in a bank parking lot away from other cars after just having hand washed it myself.

When I came out there was a very obvious dent above the rear wheel well. Was deep enough that it was done intentionally done.

I live in Central Michigan where there are many unskilled UAW (United Auto Children to me) that
have lost their cushy "under skilled" and "over paid" union jobs.

Fortunately I have not had repeat problems in the last 7 months or so.

How many others have experienced incidents like this presumably done by lunkhead bubbas with their junk pick up trucks who have in in for Hybrid vehicles.

my wife's hycam was keyed in an underground parking lot a number of years ago. i don't think it's as bad as it used to be, but there are haters out there, even in blue states.

My week old car got a nice ding in drivers door, and there was plenty of free spots around it to not require parking next to it.

    It was a Chevy Sonic.

So you can't attribute something to malice if stupidity can't be ruled out.

My week old (to me) Intrepid got a perfect trailer hitch receiver mark in the back bumper cover many years ago. Dent's may be just stupid and scratches might be from shopping carts or other accidents. But I'm sure some are deliberate. Ummmmm ... aren't the deliberate ones even more stupid?

My recommendation (only lightly tongue in cheek) is that as soon as you get you new car home, grab something and smack that car so you don't have to keep worrying about the first dent.

A long, long time ago, had a new black Ford Explorer keyed about 2 feet in length. White primer scratch on a black background...

Looking back at that incident, maybe it foretold my awakening to the Prius and now our 2018 hybrid Camry. :D

Sorry but I think it is YOU who is being the A S S here.

Never attribute to malice that which can more likely be explained by simple stupidity.

Somebody back into your car......by accident.
    Get over it.
    You need an attitude adjustment.

It has been crazy windy lately so it seems entirely possible that the dent might have been the result of some wind propelled object, like a car door or something.

Of course it might have been delibrate as well.

regardless of intent, there's plenty of documented hybrid hate out there. so trying to write it off as an accident doesn't work any better than saying it's deliberate

I'm not sure how anyone could know one way or the other without more evidence.

I’ve had many cars smashed, crashed and scratched while empty in parking lots.

Dbags should at least leave a note but they hit and run.

I had a lady smash her car door hard into my Cobalt shortly after I left
when it was a week old and could care less about it.

I had parked far in the lot and sure enough in an empty lot they parked right next to it .

Our new prius c had dings in all four doors the day we picked it up at the dealer. We didn't have to pay anything extra for the pre-dinging service, though it's been pretty valuable. We haven't had to worry about any new ones since we're already past "the first one."

And for the record: no, we didn't actually want this. The dealer we bought it from either didn't do a proper inspection or didn't do one at all. This was translated into a reduced price for the car.

While at the local Homedepot back when it was really windy. I came back to my car to find one of those big heavy lumber carts smashed into my rear bumper! It scratched it, and I was able to rub it out. Thank goodness it wasn't into the front or sides!! I might add, they had employees running around in the parking lot gathering up the carts. Since then, I have been "awarded" the usual dings along the fender edges in various parking lots. I usually park far and allow only one side to be vulnerable to dings.
