If that were the case, the phaseout would start in Q4 2022, not Q3 2022.

On the topic of how much people will have to spend... bZ4X prices in Europe are being released now. For the Netherlands, the high-end model (Premium AWD) is €48,024.79 which at current exchange-rate is $52,414.50. For the base model (Active), it is €38,933.88 which is $42,292.63.

If that price hold for the US model, then the base model Solterra would be right around $45K... that may get too expensive for me.

Prices for imports in Europe are a lot higher than in the US because of very high customs there.

Nothing currently in the news is accurate or useful. I think at the moment the most accurate number is the one I calculated, but let's hope it is wrong. Toyota is required by IRS to give an official number by the end of April if it has reached 200,000 in March.

European prices include the VAT, which is around 19% in most countries.

Plus SCT (special consumption tax), plus customs, which are typically much higher than VAT.

Good, then there is still hope that a base model Toyota bz4X starts around $36K? Which makes the base model Solterra below $40K... maybe. Or is it wishful thinking? That number is all over that places. From a low of $36 to a high of $42 starting price for bz4x.

Those prices I pointed out did not. The next column (BTW) was the very high tax. Notice them added together further over.

That's before they add between $5 & $10K to the price, turning on stripped vs fully loaded model, at the stealership level .... what with chip shortages & higher transportation/delivery costs. Maybe after deliveries trickle out and the model is a year old - & some desperate used seller may have to get out from under big monthly payments - & it'll get snapped up for a more reasonable price.

    EU car tariff was 10%.
The rest of the world doesn't have the US dealership models. They have factory owned stores as an option to go to.

It is strange that Toyota still hasn't made an official announcement. They only have until April 30th to do so. I wonder if there will be three additional months.

Meanwhile, no new Prius Primes are available in Southern California.

Toyota seems to be loath to make Primes.
