That's ironic. General Electric used to call their light bulbs "Mazda" lamps.

    What?

Well I guess they’re tapping in the areas where diesel SUVs reign and not the developed world where electrification is taking place?

Their SkyActiv engines are impressive but they need to start EV development now else be left behind (or they’re planning on paying someone else to do it? )

But 100% of drivers care about having air to breath and 97% are too stupid to realize their suffocating themselves and their lifestyle's future and it's gonna keep getting worse and worse if they don't wake up and stop being so dumb.

    The headline is a lie.

    From the article-
Ichiro Hirose, Mazda’s managing executive officer of powertrain development, revealed the company remains committed to gasoline engines and ICEs will continue to be its main focus.

“Each region and market has different methods of electricity generation,” he told the publication. “So we have to look at how the electricity is generated in each region. In some regions, it might be clean, so EVs are a good fit. But in other regions, due to power and electricity generation methods, ICE engines may have more advantage in terms of emissions. When we think about the goal of CO2 reductions, I think there are still more regions that ICE is a better fit, so I think for the time being we should still focus on ICE.”
    -

No where in there is he saying no to EV. Mazda has a PHEV in Japan already, and is bringing the rotary back as a range extender in another.
Official: Mazda Confirms Rotary Engine Return As Range-Extender

What he is saying, is that Mazda isn't giving up on the ICE. Globally, and Mazda is a global company, the BEV is not going to replace all our transportation needs in the near future. If their HCCI engine lives up to the hype, it will be a viable, direct competitor to the full hybrid.

Mazda is a small car company. They don't have the resources to pursue all avenues. That's why they partnered with Toyota for hybrid tech, and Toyota agreed because they wanted Mazda's ICE tech. Mazda is keeping their focus on what they are good at, but doesn't mean they are saying no to other ways.

They still make horse drawn carriages here and in many parts of the world. Mazda will still be making ICE powered vehicles in the age of electrics. How many people still buy buggy whips?

just looked at some of the hype/pictures in that link & man, the only thing missing from that weird looking space mobile behind the talking head dude, would appropriately be a man in a rubber Godzilla suit - . Yeah, cars going away as they are, Godzilla could stomp on that thing & the world would never have to wag their head in disbelief.

Ridiculous. Well, then there's the Mirai. I fear when Toyota talks about electric, they Count that vehicle (which uses primarily non-renewables to reform into high pressure hydrogen, which is then run through an expensive platinum membrane to create electricity, which it then stores primarily in a battery), the Mirai as both ev & clean. Oh the irony.

Coal-fired trainwreck of a presentation from insideevs. Nothing at all in there about Mazda shunning electric, just an explanation of their reinvestment in combustion engines.

    Garbage blog.
