well, i finally sprang for a used prius. this is a 2012 base pip which i ordered thru my local carmax. 16075 miles. one owner . $16999. the funny thing is that when they inspected it, guess what it was missing. yup. the plug in cord!!!! they are going to order a new one monday. so im stuck just getting around 50mpg for now. ive had several prii and i had forgotten how quiet they are. the ride is very 1950s caddy like, airy but very nice. of course does not corner worth a crap but thats ok i have my fun car for that. anyway, after one day of ownership i am VERY pleased (trying to get over hating silver)

I negotiated a much lower price on mine when it did not come with the EVSE. Then I bought a used Leaf EVSE for $200 from CL and modified it for 240V. Finally, I found the original owner of the vehicle by looking at the address that was saved as "home" and then doing a white pages search for the number that goes with that address. Now I have the original EVSE that stays in the car, and a 240v unit somewhat permanently mounted in the garage.

In my case, the seller didn't know what the PiP was, and I created some doubt that it would function properly by pointing out that it wouldn't go into EV mode, and that I couldn't test if it worked. Of course, Torque told me the cell voltages were good, so I was reasonably confident I had a working car.
