And who would want to roll down a window and stick their arm out in the future? Obviously no one! At least if you get pulled over by the cops they won't be able to do anything. Maybe you just have them call you on your phone?

You know one of the benefits of owning an ugly but utilitarian vehicle is that from the inside, it doesn't look bad at all! It's only the other people that care.

Having the wheels at the extents I am sure makes for an awesome turn radius, good for the city.

I am pretty over concept cars though. Today they never look even close to that when they finally make it to production, if they ever make it. Mercedes got what they wanted from the rendering. The internet is talking about it. Then when it comes out, it will just be the same Sprinter van they've made for decades with a sensor mounted on the roof rack and maybe a blue glowing Mercedes logo for an extra $1k.

 

Looks like Mexican wrestling masks on the front end. Or maybe they dug up the ol' Pontiac Aztec???

 

Uh... as long as you can plug it in, does it matter?

As for ugly, well, yeah. I think its a bike helmet van on top of the electric skateboard. The body is pretty interchangable if they want.

I spent awhile last week in a mercedes super jeep. Not really a jeep at all, Its a van sitting on a tough awd chasis. the thing went through creeks with no problems at all in the low drive. Then the driver shifted back into normal drive. I think he even changed tire inflation for some changing terrain. Pretty impressive vehicle. I'm sure this concept will be impressive if they can get the self driving to work.

 

As a fan of Star Trek next Generation, I immediately thought of the Tin Man / living space ship episode;

Poor Mercedes, knocking off others' concept cars. I'm sure my youngest grandkid will love it though.



From the looks of those side spoilers though - maybe MB's next version will be seedless - too.
