    Could it be the DVD is not seated in the drive? I would try popping it out, cleaning & reinserting. The drive is under the driver's seat in LHD cars.

    What DVD? I only know of the cd slot that is under the display but didn't notice anything under seat except for jbl amp.

    if you have gps, their is a disk under the driver seat. also for map updates.

    afaik. i'll check my manual for you. couldn't find anything, and there's nothing under my seat but tools, but i have a pip. do you think it updates by entune? or maybe you insert the dvd in the radio?

    but jump above has a 2010, so he should know.

    How can I tell when it's not working :p
    It's 100% dead, as in no power. Meaning that I cant do anything.
    I'll do some more detailed testing when I get back home in a week.
    Why would it not work if there is a CD problem? It should still work to some degree, would it not? At least button illumination...

    There is only one slot behind the display as far as I remember, and that one is for music. Maybe the update is done through USB on this?
    But I guess it doesn't matter because it can't be turned on XD

    i would think so, even the radio. is there a box under the drivers seat? or passenger?

    Unit started working and is working normally now - I mean really?
    Idk what happened there, hope that it wont happen again.
    My dad just informed me that he went to work with the car and it started working normally when he turned the car on.

    That's not happening any more, on any of the 3rd gen levels, or the new 2016 I guess. :(

    I like the interior on 3rd gen very much, event the plastics and stuff - like the textures on those and so on.

    But 'Muricans can't stop complaining, everything has to be "soft touch". I guess they like hugging their dashes a lot so hard plastic would make them uncomfortable. (not talking about you guys here, just that 1 million reviewers that complained about hard touch plastics and flying buttress). At least they kept center console.

    The slot for the CD player is behind the display. The DVD drive with the nav DVD is under the left seat. The box under the right seat is for the audio system.

    No, it's not. On my version there are two slots for dvds under the display. Top slot is multimedia and one under it is for gps update. Just checked. Like in this video, unit 3, there is also one more slot just above display when it's flipped open that's for dvd and can't be seen in the video -http://driver-safety.wonderhowto.com/how-to/load-cd-2010-prius-300541/
    I also have a HDD button but it does nothing.

    It can't be seen in the link above because it's just barely over the display when it's flipped open.

    So, after working for a month it died again. Same symptoms.
    And now I'm also hearing what could be a bearing in the front.
    And also there is a rattle sometimes when I start the car for a few seconds (famous problem around here)

    My, I hope the reliability isn't as bad as it seems so far or the car will fall apart before it reaches 100k miles (it's at 81k atm) :(
