Miami’s abandoned new car stash

Those poor Prii are trashed from being stored for so long. The HV batteries are probably long dead, along with the 12V batteries. And any of the gas in the tank would have gone bad a long time ago.

Each of those Prii will probably cost thousands to get them running again.

After moving these cars, will they find any uncounted ballot boxes from the Bush-Gore election lost underneath?

 

How sad, these were abandoned while there was a prius shortage.

No, just the 12V batteries. Toyota is on the hook for the hybrid batteries with their warranty, even though damage from sitting isn't really their fault.

I wanted to see if this story was a hoax. It took some digging but I found this on the Miami Herald newspaper site: Miami-Dade has dozens of never-driven hybrids - Miami-Dade - MiamiHerald.com

 

How does this happen? Lets order 300 brand new Prii. Then, we'll just stash them in some garage. Wth

 

Warranties for fleet use can be different.

 

... and a budget shortage, and service cuts, and job cuts.

 

300 cars * 15,000 miles a year * 5 years / 50 MPG = 450,000 gallons of gas not used, or used in a less efficient vehicle.
