Yes, the woman I chatted with at Michelin told me about starting a "warranty case." But heck, I sure don't want any more Michelin tires. I can't wait for these Premiers to wear out! :D

Yep, I'm old enough to remember that. But these Premier's are skimpy on the tread to begin with. 7/32? 8/32? I better leave them as is. They should be fairly worn in another 12 months and then I can get new tires. Owners report getting only 25K out of this tread.

Ok, after the THIRD re-balance, the man said only one wheel needed an adjustment. Then I went and drove 20 miles at 65 to 70 mph on the freeway. And then did a big lap thru the city. I wish I had GOOD news to report. o_O Vibration and noise will not go away. Well, I tried. Just gotta live with it. But no more Michelin for me!

" The road noise complaint is understandable" -bisco

Except for all the road noise that fills the cabin, my Prius is a great car. Thanks all. This thread is officially dead.

    8.5/32". More typical is 10/32".

Yeah but they're good to the last of their tread depth, due to emerging tread sipes as the tire wears. You'll just have to hire a tire "hitman". :sneaky:

Ah man, you had me going... :ROFLMAO:

What happened to you is fairly common.
About 50% of the total tire trouble I've had over 50 years or so has been "caused" by a tire rotation.
The only solution I have ever found is: A new set to tires.
Incidentally, that usually involved changing from a different brand TO Michelins.

That is a pretty short sighted attitude.
Michelin is HIGHLY regarded in the tire business......but nobody is perfect.
In my case, they have been my "go to" brand for near to 40 years.
Except for a big disappointment with the original HydroEdges on a Cadillac they have been perfect.
I currently have MXV4'S on two vehicles.

Sam, I also had the Michelin MXV4's on a previous 4-door sedan in the past. Can't explain it, but they also got extremely noisy after the first rotation. Seemed to be a good performing tire, great in wet conditions. Not bashing Michelin, but just hope I can find a quieter tire in the future. But they may not exist, I don't know. (I also might have bent something in the suspension--hitting potholes.)

you really have me nervous about the first rotation of both our cars. maybe i'll try it, and swap them right back if the noise increases.

One last resort, I can try getting the alignment checked. I think I better go to the Toyota dealer for that. Where I bought the car. I've hit quite a few potholes in the past few months.

Hopefully yours will be fine, bisco. It's possible I may have suspension damage from hitting potholes. Something bent?

Probably, but I would feel more comfortable with guys working on it who are more familiar with Toyota Prii's.
The service dept at Longo Toyota is actually pretty good, in my experience.

My girl has sore feet! Those new Michelin shoes are probably fine for another young lady, but my girl is howling in pain! She doesn't like her new footwear. She says they just don't fit right. :(

(I know, I know, that's pretty silly. See what happens when you drink too much Jim Beam? Now I'm talking to my car! This is the Old Coast Cruiser :cautious: signing off! It's been fun, fellas! ;) RCO... don't tell anybody! Shhhh! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:)

I'm sorry, Mr Moderator. I will go ban myself again! Didn't mean no harm. I leave you with a photo of my beautiful girl, below. The STARSHIP. :)

No, don't go again! If the Mods can overlook an historic transgression, there is a definite quorum who welcome you back. I for one appreciate your honest admission of nom de plume variety.

Thank you sir! I enjoy all your posts and your great sense of humor. And many thanks to "The Chairman", bisco. And "The Technician", Mendel. You three are my favorite posters on Priuschat. Keep up the great work. Many other respected members in this community; too many to mention. Fantastic forum!

Back to the subject. I look forward to seeing how many miles of treadlife I get from these Michelin Premier tires, and I want to test them in the rain. (But I'm in a drought area). My Prius has been trouble-free, rattle free. My one concern is maybe not driving it long enough? Far enough? Retirement has reduced my driving, and I want to make sure I drive often enough to keep the Hybrid system in good shape. I love the technology of this car. I'm still a rookie in a Hybrid, and I'm still noticing new things every day. Take care, and thank you! (And I was just kidding about drinking. Very rarely touch alcohol. But I do admit to occasionally talking to my Prius.)
