Bought the brace from Mike and installed it today - takes only minutes to install. Test drive showed definite handling improvement as the car stays more level in turns and bumps seem less jarring. Quality product, fast shipping and well packaged. Buy it!

Do you have to sacrifice ride for stability?

I disagree, the brace is ornamental, does nothing to improve handling. It's a placebo effect your feeling, save your money and get a strut brace.

That placebo effects feels pretty good.

I agree. Especially when taking on-ramp curves.

If the car handles better but no one else notices it does it handle better?

Spoken like a person, who has NEVER tried it.

Those who have, report a difference.

In another thread Ecobill reports that he installed a brace and couldn't tell any difference.

Yep, I take some ramps daily in Ohio, and route 252 which is curvy, and I can say it does nothing. You will feel difference though with a front strut brace.

YMMV and you might not be as in tune to your car as other folks. :D

Granted the noticeable improvements are probably not as dramatic as front or rear stabilizers may be but there is improvement.

But this isn't really a tuner or MG Midget, so I have my fun Hybrid that happens to look good. I have raced professionally, so I know my cars well.

Fair enough. Maybe you have the different brand of tires than me then? I don't know. But I do know that it has made a difference. Especially when hitting rough roads through turns. Much less tail wiggle.

I may ruffle some feathers by saying this, but it's very much a personal choice what we choose to spend our money on. We all buy things we don't need, because of how it makes us feel. Personally, it's rare that the car I choose to buy, doesn't already have all the features I want, engineered properly and included in the purchase price. I've made some minor mods on my Prius, but nothing that is likely to affect the warranty.

Where I sometimes get a bit judgmental I suppose, is when vast sums of money are spent to make the car something completely different from how it was originally designed. It seems a bit pointless to me. Buy the other car in the first place.

Is $60 a vast sum? Or is this a generalization?

Yep, that's a generalization. I've spent a lot more than $60 on mods for my car. By "vast sums" well, you know what I meant.

Depends if your replacing a oem stamp center brace with a upgraded one! You should notice some difference. When I first got my prius, I was scared how it handle and tracked down the road especially at freeway speed! I hated that feeling it was darting pulling left\right torque steer , like i had no control Now with lower trd springs, rear sway, Cusco front sway\ frt power brace and center brace my own shimming rear toe! I can say it really handles now! Really depends on the driver!
