Minor skidding

    Has anyone noticed that the Prime is more prone to very minor skidding/ slipping upon "strong" braking than other vehicles (including older generation Prius)? I'm not even talking about stomping on the brakes... I'm referring to a hard squeeze. It's happened to me twice recently (one from actually a low speed... approx. 5-10mph) where I'd squeeze the brakes, and the car would seem to skid a very short distance before coming to a halt (as opposed to a controlled slowdown that I'm accustomed too).

    Note again: I am NOT stomping the brakes (I do autocross in my other car, so have decent "car control").

    probably related to low rolling friction/resistance in search of higher mpg.

    most likely the vsc on rough surfaces. all prius are subject to it, due to the interaction of regen and friction braking
    it's not actually skidding, but the sensation in your brain is a loss of braking control, especially in that 5-10 mph range, where regen drops out as you slow

    This is probably it.

    To the prior posters,
    >no brake work done recently. Car is still "new" with just under 10K miles/ 1yr life
    >I used to have a Prius Generation II (which also had the low rolling resistance tires), and believe that the braking was more "normal"

    i'm sure they've made adjustments to the control software, and recall that there have been upgrades in the past.
    you would expect things to improve over generations.
    maybe a mention to the dealer, since toyota isn't always forthcoming unless complaints are filed.
