Poor compression will cause a misfire on that cylinder but it's easy to check with a compression test.

Main bearing issues should cause random misfires (ie misfire code jumps around P0301-P0304)

I would still try a new injector on cylinder #3 (still my bet for what is wrong) long before condemning the engine for good.

230,000 miles. Many low oil incidents.

Running an engine low on oil or having high mileage does not mean it is toast......car in the video sounds done too but it was perfectly fine.

How would you explain the misfire not jumping around to random cylinders if the bottom end was gone?

What was wrong with the Prius in the video? Was it just an injector? Because that's exactly how mine sounds until you accelorate.

Yes, it was only a bad fuel injector.

Thanks for the help guys. But I've now gone and purchased a 2015 Prius. Gonna sell the old one. Can't be bothered trying to diagnose it any longer. Not only that I reckon with the current mileage and problem I reckon there will be more problems to follow.

Loving the new T-Spirit. The LED headlights are AMAZING. Don't know how I ever lived without them.

You'll still need to fix that injector to sell it but yes older vehicles will usually have more issues than newer ones.

if there is coolant on the dipstick, forget the injector. engine is toast.

Water in the oil as well as the engine is misfiring, to me it sounds like a blown head gasket......
