is it possible for the antenna to come loose and fall off on its own? car is 6yo, 32k miles, only goes through no-touch car washes and I just noticed the missing antenna. may have happened within the last few weeks now that I consider poor radio reception. definitely not broken off, can see the threads just fine. there is also a small chance that someone at the apartment is being a schmuck.

I would say there's a large chance that someone in the apartment is being a schmuck and a small chance that it fell off on it's own!

They can fall off on their own, or somebody might have lifted it.

I prefer the falling off theory, since most people don't actually live in high crime areas, and I've seen antennae loosened by road vibration, etc.

Get a new one off of Ebay and get on with your life...or use a coat hanger cut and bent into a folded dipole.

    Post pictures.

I'm enjoying the mental image of a Prius with a coat-hanger antenna! :)

thanks ordered one off eBay already. the reason I asked about accident vs mischief is my wipers were moved last weekend. its a low crime area but there may have a schmuck factor to deal with until I move.
