    Motor trend app just posted an article on the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander and no mention of a PHEV..

    who knows for sure, we may never get it. but we probably will eventually. i think they're just selling too many elsewhere, currently.

    That, and some battery supply issues.
    Like Volvo with their V60 PHV diesel, Mitsubishi just wasn't expecting the plug in to be so popular. In the US, I think it is just a question whether they can last long enough to get production up for import.

    I can't wait. This thing is everything that the Rav4 hybrid isn't.

    no, nothing confirmed. probably bait and switch. mitsy knows they won't sell anymore than volt, pip, etc. with 2 dollar gas. compare that to europe, they'll sell everyone they can make there.

    According to Mitsubishi, CARB rule changes in battery monitoring requirement caused the 2nd delay, 1st being battery problem/shortage.

    Americans don't want to drive 50 miles range golf carts. Just ask Toyota.

    If the Outlander can come in at 40k, then this will smack right at Toyota Rav4 hybrid price with $5800 IRS credit. Cheaper for CA and $150 tax rebate. Hmmm... which one is more advanced. From European reports of 40 US mpg mixed driving for hybrid mode, this could be a winner.

    Mitsubishi motors is always been a stepchild of Mitsubishi. Right now they are fighting for survival in US market on a very limited budget, so not sure if this would or would not help them.

    the amount of cars they would sell wouldn't hep their bottom line, but maybe it would create the bob klutz halo effect.

    They were the same here. They were an after thought, they just 'were', but nobody really went out of their way to get a Mitsubishi. Sales and market share were sliding year after year.

    Then came the Outlander PHEV and it's the hottest selling EV or PHEV in the UK market, and by some margin.

    Perhaps their i-miev was their equivalent of the 1997 Prius? The Outlander PHEV is nothing like the i-miev and seems to have ironed out all the strange foibles of the i-miev. The next gen Outlander, which has just been released is still making headway. It's what Toyota could have done with the RAV4 EV if they'd wanted.

    Toyota's loss is Mitsubishi's gain.

    That link I gave above should give an idea, but the important part is this;

    "In the 18 months since, Mitsubishi has sold 21,142 Outlanders, the vast majority PHEVs and representing 36 per cent of the brand’s entire UK volume. It’s overtaken the L200 pick-up as the most popular Mitsubishi and radically changed customer perception of a brand previously known for more utilitarian go-anywhere models such as the L200 and the Shogun.

    In the process, Mitsubishi claims with conviction to have created the UK’s plug-in market. In 2013 a total of 988 such cars were registered, most of them Nissan Leafs. Within months of launch the Outlander overtook the Leaf and went on to claim a staggering 83 per cent of a 2014 market that had mushroomed to 12,111 vehicles. In the process the UK became the biggest market for the Outlander PHEV."
